Its been a hard trek, leading me eventually to here.

I have a fair few zappa albums on vinyl. I believe I have some of his best work.

So the first question: What am I missing?
and: what should I not be without.

The next question is Joes gharage acts 1-2-3 available in one Vinyl album?

Finally where oh where can I find vinyl on the web available to the UK for Zappa, I don't mind second hand and already keep my eye in on Ebay.

Image

Cheers!
Nice pic.
I started collecting FZ in the wonderful period when his back catalog was out of print and the cds weren't created, so 2nd hand vinyl was my only choice.
:)
Funny thing Arkay, i´ve got the same story. Buying vinyls felt like a drag at the time because of all the scratchs and pops that the cd´s don´t have...nowadays i love the sound on an old vinyl lp. Plus Zappa always had such great cover art.

As for garyi´s question, Joe´s Garage is available as a three album set. Box sets are cool...You are what you is would be a good find on vinyl, depending on what version your cd is.

There is a box set with all 3 parts on double vinyl.
I got it for £15 from a second-hand record shop in Glasgow last summer.
With the exception of 'Dong Work for Yuda', which mysteriously jumps in several places, the records are near perfect.
I have it on CD as well, so I am not missing this song.
Last time I was in there (fortnight ago) the only other Zappa vinyl I saw was Roxy & Elsewhere, but my student income is not sufficiently disposable for me to buy many records on a whim.

Sorry to hear about all of your troubles ! I am very lucky in that I live in the states, and started my collection in 1974, so I have lots of vinyl, now I'm working on the cd's. Garyi, I love your photo! That must have been a proud moment when you stood back and beheld it in all it's majesty! Seems like a good thing we can all do at home, lay out our collection and take a pic, even if it does'nt go online, you'd have a record of your records, so to speak! I'm missing The Perfect Stranger, Francesco Zappa, and The LSO II....but I'm in no rush. Best get it before it disappears. Thanks for sharing your collection!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Wow. Thanks for the replies. Its busy ere innit!

Yes WOIIFTM is on the original verve, however the condition is not mint, though very playable

I have listened to zappa since I was twelve, introduced by the majesty of Bobby Brown.

but I prefer his more musical stuff, Grand Wazoo, Onsize Fits All, chungas revenge etc.

I also like HIFI and as such prefer the sound of vinyl. Believe me for those that have not heard Waka Jawaka on vinyl, it is seriously better than the CD version, no messing, and the orignal mix on Hotrats is also far superior to the remaster CD.

Anyhoo I digress. anyone want to sell me Chunga's on vinyl ;-)

Our local record shop has some FZ vinyl. They've sent stuff by post before, so go to http://www.inaspinmusic.com and e-mail them. They might be able to help, they do have Joe's Garage 12&3 in record format!

^

What sort of Zappa vinyl do you have what is the oldest one you got.
My original Lumpy Gravy LP would be the oldest I've got, is only in fair nick - also have a nice early 70's repressing of LG.

I've got a lot Zappa on Vinyl with most of the early stuff repressing from the early 70's, ie Freak Out, Ab Free etc, my Uncle Meat is an original pressing.

Most probably not, but my post is a comment on the picture in slime’s post from a couple of days ago.
