Despite the local Olympic hoopla I haven't followed it at all this time around.....

I might catch the highlights after they're all done.....

If the tube's on, it's probably Olympics, they're pretty cool :D

Way better than the usual fare, save for some PBS :)

It's strange how much this affects the enjoyment of sports. What should it matter if we can watch others watching? :?

It's not about watching others watching. In general, I think it's about feeling like you are amongst them while watching. Although, that psychology doesn't apply to me. For example, if I want to watch Liverpool playing a match, I'll do it regardless of the crowd and sometimes, with certain sports, I get so pissed off with the commentators I turn the sound off. Now, that's a bit weird, watching sport with the sound off, that's difficult.

I'm not watching the Olympics this time around. I have watched some aspects of previous ones, but for some reason, I just have zero interest at the moment.

You'd think that if we can fly a helicopter on Mars and send billionaires into space inside giant dildos, we could find a way to mute that asshole who keeps going on and on about how much the guy with the manbun is making...

I was brought up listening to sports on the radio and their were some great announcers, with TV not so much although there are a few...when I watch NFL football I am amazed at how often the announcers get the call wrong when I made it as it happened and I am watching it on TV, go figure...I do agree with Fritz though about missing the crowd it is weird, I much more enjoy this years Indy 500 with a 50% crowd than last year with almost no one there...I know it doesn't make sense but the crowd matters even if the announcer can go to hell for some new glass's...

I think you're on to something here. This is likely the same psychology behind the laugh track on television shows.

Surfing’s next Olympic venue? Teahupoo. Competition at the Paris 2024 Games will be held in Tahiti.

No, just watch it on the news sometimes. Did you see this horse bitch ? "Modern" Pentathlon. The horse refused to work and it was beaten by this stupid olympian, sitting on the horse crying like a child because the toy doesn't work. The coach stand close by and yelled "hit it hard". This coach slut was sent home immediately.

Is that because a prosthetic leg can be used as a probe?
