Frank Zappa's tribute to this very important composer has sadly only ever seen a bits and pieces release. (No doubt mostly unauthorized.)

Could the music, notes and ideas that would become this album possibly be brought to fruition with guest performers to complete it?

What a great album it would be to the great memory of Frank Zappa and in honor of Edgard Varese one of his personal favorite composers.

This is what Gail replied in 2016 (I'm not sure how much relevance it would have now):

"That's a very personal—and brilliant—album. He wasn't bothered if it was released or not. It was a project done when Frank's life lasted longer than anyone could have anticipated. He didn't care if anyone heard it or not—and I feel the same. It was enough that Frank heard it. No amount of money could equal that."

The recording is complete and was mixed by Frank just before his death. It doesn't need any "guest performers." The reason it didn't come out at the time, as I understand it, was a dispute over the video rights. No idea if that's been resolved, as the release has been mooted several times over the years but it never seems to materialize.

The existing fragments were officially posted on the Zappa site way back in 1998.

My guess as to why this hasn't been released is that since Frank isn't the composer, the ZFT would realize a lot less profit by releasing this as opposed to a release where they owned the publishing rights to the material.

Wow, very excited to read that Gail mentioned it was actually completed.

Surely percentages of profits shouldn't be the sole reason for deciding to release this important work. Frank liked it and that's enough for me, it must have been good with that being the case.

This fan and many other fans would love it hear it ZFT.

Maybe a good one to celebrate Frank's birth date.
