Insane Clown Posse’s Shaggy 2 Dope Says ‘Dirt Snow’ Is a Way to Fight Coronavirus
It didn't turn out so great for him

As many parts of the world are going into hiding or at least social distancing themselves from the coronavirus, Insane Clown Posse’s Shaggy 2 Dope has a solution for combatting coronavirus.

In a video posted to the group’s Instagram on Thursday (March 12), Shaggy 2 Dope, born Joseph Utsler, explained that consuming “dirt snow” is the best way to prevent getting COVID-19.

“Good old fashioned dirt snow. God made dirt. Dirt don’t hurt. Take out the rocks, and then it will build your immune system,” he said before shoving a handful of dark grey snow into his mouth.

After eating it up, he said, “That’s how you beat the fucking system.”

The next day (March 13), Insane Clown Posse just posted a photo of one the band member’s chest covered in ivies, an EKG monitor patch an a heartrate monitor device on his finger. The caption said that Shaggy 2 Dope was the one in the photo.

“Straight from Shaggy’s hospital bed tonight,” the caption said. “LIVE!!!! The Shaggy And The Creep Show podcast, you read it correctly, live from Shaggy’s hospital room bed just hours away!”

It’s currently unknown why Shaggy is in the hospital. Although, there are many comments pointing to the consumption of dirt snow to be the reason.

So the lessons from all of this are to check out the CDC to learn how to best fight off or prevent infection and avoid eating a handful of dirt snow.

Coronavirus comes for spring break: Local officials close Florida beaches after governor refuses to
At the height of the spring break rush, Gov. Ron DeSantis said Tuesday he would not order the beaches closed.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/coronavirus-comes-spring-break-locals-close-florida-beaches-after-governor-n1163741

By Elisha Fieldstadt

Local officials in Florida towns and cities are taking it upon themselves to close beaches amid the coronavirus outbreak after Gov. Ron DeSantis refused to, even as spring breakers and others crowd the shores.

At the height of the college break rush, DeSantis said Tuesday that he would not order the beaches closed, but he did limit parties on beaches to 10 people per group.

DeSantis said it's "not uniform throughout the state that you're seeing massive crowds at beaches," despite reports and images of people packing the sand.

Still, the mayors of Miami Beach and Fort Lauderdale, two of the most popular beach destinations in the state, issued orders to close their beaches last Sunday.

Public beaches in Tampa are also closed until further notice, city officials said.

Naples announced Wednesday that it would close its beaches until March 30.

All public beaches in Miami-Dade County will close as of Thursday night, Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez announced Wednesday. Parks, nonessential retail, private educational facilities, casinos and other recreational and entertainment activities are also ordered closed or restricted as of Thursday night, he said.

Beaches in Lee County will also close Thursday night, according to county officials. Popular beach vacation destinations Fort Myers and Sanibel are in Lee County.

On Wednesday, Clearwater voted to close its beaches starting Monday.

Clearwater Beach was relatively busy Wednesday with residents and visitors who said they chose not to cancel planned vacations over coronavirus fears.

"I feel like we're not going to stop our life because of that, but we'll definitely keep precautions," said Anamaria Nowak, 20, who was there with a friend. "We didn't come with a group of friends. We're going to stay by ourselves and not share our things."

College students and younger people in general have been criticized for not taking the virus seriously and for seeming to disregard that they could carry it to higher-risk people, like the elderly.

Clearwater's decision to close its beaches comes as neighboring beaches could stay open.

Pinellas County, where Clearwater is located, on Wednesday said that "after much consideration and deliberation," they were splitting from the pack and keeping their beaches open. But on Thursday, the Pinellas County Commission on unanimously voted to close all beaches starting on Friday, until at least April 6.

Nearly 330 people in Florida have tested positive for COVID-19, the state Health Department reported Wednesday night. Eight Florida residents have died.

COVID-19: Hamilton McDonald's worker charged, police say she used fake doctor's note saying she had virus

"Police have charged an employee at a McDonald’s restaurant in Hamilton, Ont., saying she used a faked doctor’s note claiming she tested positive for COVID-19 to get out of work.

When the 18-year-old female employee handed the purported medical note to her supervisor on March 19, McDonald’s immediately closed the restaurant and sent all employees home to self-isolate.

It remained closed for several days and was sanitized by a professional cleaning company, while the public was warned about potential transmission to customers and staff. Customers were told to contact Ontario Public Health if they had concerns and had been served at the restaurant on March 15.

The note, however, was a fraud, Hamilton police said Friday."

Police issue warning after hundreds flock to Wellington's Oriental Parade
Laura Wiltshire·18:52, March 30th, 2020.

As soon as the rain stopped in Wellington on Sunday, thousands escaped to Oriental Parade, but Police Commissioner Mike Bush says this may cause a rethink on the rules.

Police have issued a warning after hundreds of people flocked to Wellington's Oriental Parade for some afternoon sun on Sunday.

Police Commissioner Mike Bush said he was surprised at the number of people out and about on Oriental Parade when he drove past on Sunday.

While most appeared to be following social distancing rules, staying two metres apart from one another and only associating with those within their own bubbles, he was concerned not everyone was.

Bush said if people did not comply with the lockdown rules, they would have to take another look at the rules.

"I'll use this opportunity to appeal to people, you must stay local. I think if people aren't complying we are going to have to revisit this."

Image

Police were seen patrolling in cars and the police launch the Lady Elizabeth IV was seen patrolling the shallow waters around the Oriental Parade beach.

He said people should not be wandering five or six kilometres away from home, and if they do see other people out and about, to keep their distance.

"Really keep that social distancing."

One Oriental Parade resident, who did not want to be named, said he had lived in the area for many years and had never seen it so busy.

"So many people decided to come out at the same time, in groups, for a walk and a run.

On Monday a Stuff reporter observed people walking in the middle of the path, making it difficult for others to stay two metres away, and there were a few groups of people in twos or threes sitting around and talking.

"There is nothing wrong with going for a walk or looking after your mental health through physical exercise, but everyone else is doing this in their own homes or in solitude, when no one is outside."

On Monday a Stuff reporter said people could be seen walking down, and sitting at Oriental Parade.

One person was in the water.

People were walking in the middle of the path, making it difficult for others to stay two meters away, and there were a few groups of people in twos or threes sitting around and talking.

Stuff has also seen reports of similar behaviour on other beach side locations around Wellington, including Island Bay and Lyall Bay.

There were also reports that Nairnville Park in Ngaio was busy over the weekend.

Police Commissioner Mike Bush was surprised at the number of people out and about on Oriental Parade.

A witness reported groups of adults and children playing soccer together, and others chatting to each other in groups.

"They didn't seem to understand or care that this two metre rule is to protect us all. We really do not need this four week lockdown turning into eight."

When asked by Stuff whether police want to see the rules tightened and what this might look like, a spokesperson responded saying the rules around self-isolation and outdoor exercise remained the same.

"Self-isolation means staying at home. The Government has asked all New Zealanders to stay at home to help stop the spread of Covid-19."

She said people were allowed to go for a walk, or exercise and enjoy nature within their own neighbourhood.

Meanwhile shoppers, many wearing masks, kept the 2 metre distance as they queued on Monday at Pak'nSave in Kilbernie.

"If you do leave your house, you must keep a two metre distance from other people at all times."

Coronavirus: Man arrested after filming himself coughing on fellow shoppers
Sam Sherwood·11:57, April the 05th, 2020.

A man has been arrested after posting a video coughing and sneezing at fellow shoppers at a Christchurch supermarket.

In the video, posted to Facebook, the man smiles as he coughs and sneezes on shoppers at Fresh Choice supermarket in Barrington.

He then turns the camera on the shoppers as he apologises. He has since deleted the video.

A police spokesman confirmed on Sunday a 38-year-old man was arrested on Saturday evening.

"The man has been charged with endangering life by criminal nuisance and obstruction of a medical officer of health."

The incident happened at the Fresh Choice supermarket in Barrington.

He is due to appear at the Christchurch District Court on Monday.

A police spokesman earlier called the behaviour "abhorrent", even without a pandemic.

"[It] is quite frankly dangerous in the current environment."

A spokeswoman for the supermarket said they would co-operate with authorities in any way needed.

"The person in the video has since apologised and indicated it was a drunken prank, which is obviously not funny at all in these challenging times.

"We take the safety of our team and customers extremely seriously, and this is our absolute priority, and like all supermarkets, Fresh Choice Barrington has put a number of extra steps in place over and above the norm to ensure the store is clean and safe for people to shop and work in."

The spokeswoman said the store had been thoroughly cleaned since the incident "over and above" the already heightened precautionary sanitisation and cleaning regimes already in place.

"We would strongly discourage any customers from doing anything like this in any supermarket. The police have been very clear that it's irresponsible and unacceptable behaviour."

The man in the video is seen wearing a Graham Hill Roofing jacket. However, in a post on the company's Facebook page, he never worked directly for them.

"This person was an employee of a temping agency. We are working with the police to get our clothing back and will assist them with any information they require in this matter," the posts said.

Health Minister David Clark demoted after taking beach trip amid lockdown
Thomas Manch·07:58, April, the 7th, 2020.

Health Minister David Clark has narrowly avoided being sacked after taking a 20 kilometre trip to a beach amid the coronavirus lockdown.

Clark, in a statement issued early on Tuesday morning, said he had informed the prime minister of his breach of the lockdown and offered his resignation.

He later told the AM Show he felt "like a complete dick" when he realised his mistake. Clark even left the door open to resigning from Parliament by not standing at the next election.

Minister of Health David Clark has been stripped of some of his portfolios.

"I haven't thought that far ahead, I've been told to get on with my job and that's what I'll be doing," he said.

He said on the first weekend of the lockdown he travelled about 20km from his home to Doctor's Point Beach for a walk with his family.

At a time when we are asking New Zealanders to make historic sacrifices I've let the team down. I've been an idiot, and I understand why people will be angry with me."

Clark told the prime minister of his movements during lockdown on Monday evening, as he prepared for parliament's epidemic response committee which will meet on Tuesday.

"She was pretty angry, understandably, disappointed, and I hope that encapsulates it," Clark said of the prime minister's reaction, on the AM Show on Tuesday morning.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, in a statement issued the same time as Clark's, said in normal circumstances she would "sack" Clark for the indiscretion.

"But right now, my priority is our collective fight against Covid-19. We cannot afford massive disruption in the health sector or to our response. For that reason, and that reason alone, Dr Clark will maintain his role.

"But he does need to pay a price. He broke the rules."

A photograph taken of Health Minister David Clark's van at the carpark of a Dunedin mountain bike park, on Thursday April 2nd, a week into a full scale lockdown of New Zealand.

Instead, he would be stripped of his associate finance minister portfolio and be demoted to the bottom of the Government's Cabinet rankings.

Ardern said there were no excuses for his actions.

"I have got this completely wrong, I've made a mistake," Clark said.

"Clearly I was not thinking straight.

"I can't afford to make errors of judgement like this", he said.

Clark said he didn't recall that he had broken the rules by going to the beach until Monday night.

"I thought carefully about was there anything else I had done that might have breached the rules and it was bloody obvious at that point - I felt like a complete dick if I'm honest," he said.

Last week, Clark came under fire for driving to a mountain bike park more than 2km from his home.

Clark confirmed to Stuff he had driven from his Dunedin home to ride an mountain bike trail, between video conferences that afternoon.

"This was my only chance to get out for some exercise in daylight hours ... The track itself is not challenging, and is widely used by families and foot-traffic. I know that now is not the time for people to be engaging in higher-risk exercise activities," he said in a statement.

"I don't want to give anyone the perception that I take these matters lightly. This is a reminder to me to think carefully about how best to fit some exercise into my new-normal routine."

He apologised to the prime minister after Stuff reported on the mountain bike trip.

Kiwis have been ordered to stay at home for a four-week lockdown, a severe measure hoped to break the community transmission of Covid-19.

Clark on Tuesday said he had also taken his family to a walking track approximately 2km from his home by car, and been on occasional runs, "all of which were local and within the rules".

THE OFFICIAL ADVICE

"You can go for a walk, run or bike ride ... Do not go hunting or hiking, and especially not on overnight trips." - Covid-19 website

"You may use a private vehicle to get food or medicine ... Personal walks and other active travel like biking is fine, provided you follow the 2-metre physical distancing requirements." - Covid-19 website

"Cycling is great, and, yes, you might want to go further—and stay in your bubble. Don't go racing off the side of the track and injuring yourself while you're trying to keep two metres distance, because bikers tend to pass fairly quickly. But look, I think, as Sarah says, it's a matter of judgment." - Dr Ashley Bloomfield, March the 27th

"Ask yourself that question: should I be somewhere where I might need help and someone will have to come in and rescue me?" - Civil Defence director Sarah Stuart-Black, March the 27th

"You've heard the Prime Minister say "Keep it local", absolutely. Don't be driving willy-nilly all over town—for me, it's about if it's nearby, if it's for exercise, that's OK ... Absolutely — nearby, very local, but for the right reason. But let's not forget, this is about staying home so you stay alive; that's the principle," - Police Commissioner Mike Bush, March the 26th

"As we've always said, stay local. And, by and large, you know, our preference, of course, would be people just stepping outside of their home and making the most of their local community. I accept, though, there are some people who not near an area where they can safely walk or they can safely get fresh air, so we do accept that people will make short-distance journeys," - Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, March the 31st

Surgery patient didn't mention Covid-19 symptoms and later tested positive
14 hrs ago

Eleven Southland Hospital staff and two patients are in self-isolation after a patient came in for surgery and did not say they had Covid-19 symptoms, only to later test positive for the virus.

Southern District Health Board said the patient, who was able to have their surgery completed, shared a room with the two other patients who have tested negative.

If you have symptoms of the coronavirus, call the NZ Covid-19 Healthline on 0800 358 5453 (+64 9 358 5453 for international SIMs) or call your GP - don't show up at a medical centre

Hospital controller Jo McLeod said: "our thoughts are with the patient and we understand this has been a very difficult situation.

"We just want to reinforce that it is very important for patients to disclose any symptoms that they may have, even if they don't seem serious or significant at the time,"

Two other hospital staff who were casual contacts of the patients have been contacted but have not had to self-isolate, the Southern DHB said.

'Lock her up!': Anti-Whitmer coronavirus lockdown protestors swarm Michigan Capitol

Image

Thousands of demonstrators descended on the state Capitol in Lansing, Michigan, on Wednesday to protest Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's restrictive stay-at-home order, clogging the streets with their cars while scores ignored organizers' pleas to stay inside their vehicles.

The protest — dubbed "Operation Gridlock" — was organized by the Michigan Conservative Coalition and the Michigan Freedom Fund, a DeVos family-linked conservative group. Protesters were encouraged to show up and cause traffic jams, honk and bring signs to display from their cars. Organizers wrote on Facebook: "Do not park and walk — stay in your vehicles!"

Many ignored the demand. Demonstrators, on foot, were seen waving American, "Don't Tread on Me" and Trump campaign flags. At least two Confederate flags were spotted.
