You beat me to it... Big Swifty was moderate in length. The new KB player was great, and did fantastic on vocals. Mind blowing show all the way around. Crowd was unreal, stage set up and sound was amazing. Encore with Muffin Man and Black Napkins was a VERY pleasant surprise. Dweezil just keeps get better. Don't save you money, GO TO THE SHOW!!!!!

He wasn't at the show in Portland, beyond that I'm not sure.

I could be like some and post the set list now even though I didn't attend (it's up online).
BUT I think I'll let Plook go ahead with that since he let us know he was going. Seems to be the courteous thing to do.

Dweezil’s new keyboard player/vocalist is three-time Emmy winner Kevin Bents, who has previously performed with the likes of John Fogerty and Steely Dan. [Added: 13 February 2020]

https://www.dweezilzappa.com/pages/bio
...Boundless energy is contributed by the rest of the line up which includes original core member multi-instrumentalist Scheila Gonzalez, (above) newcomer Kevin Bents on keyboards and all around musical genius, Adam Minkoff...

The current band lineup is Dweezil's favorite so far. "This is the best version of the band I have ever had. The musicians are able to tackle the hardest instrumental passages and cover a limitless range of vocals."

Dweezil Zappa: Lead Guitar, Vocals

Scheila Gonzalez: Sax, Keys, Vocals

Adam Minkoff: Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar, Keyboards, Percussion

Ryan Brown: Drums, Vocals

Kurt Morgan: Bass, Vocals

Kevin Bents: Keyboards, Vocals

The new keyboardist did fine. Now we're down to a six piece band again.

Hey Plook! Here is your list. How was that Bill Cosby thing? - https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/dweezil- ... 82f72.html

D. Zappa

Dweezil Zappa performed Sunday night at the Canyon Montclair, the first known public performance in the 909
by a Zappa since his father, Frank, was in Claremont in 1975.

“We’ve never been here before. But it’s nice to be so close to Cucamonga,”
Dweezil said at the start, according to reader and Zappa fan Tim Corvin, who was there.

Later in the show Zappa mentioned having seen signs for San Bernardino.
Some diehards applauded, assuming the remark was a lead-in to the Frank Zappa song “San Ber’dino.”
Dweezil said it wasn’t in their repertoire.

“Towards the end, while he was deciding what song they would play next, someone yelled,
‘”Cucamonga”!’ But again he laughed and said they didn’t know it,” Corvin reported.

Dweezil ought to bone up on Berdoo. And cram on Cucamonga.

The trip detials and pictures will be up on Plook on Tour soon, but let me give the concert detials here... :smoke:

So we had went to dinner before the show and during the dinner RG wrote a letter to Deweezil about the passing of Dean (KUIII), we got there early and when we entered tried to find a way to have it delivered, we ended up giving it to the backstage guard who unprompted said he would give it to Magen (DZ's wife) we noticed he took it back maybe half way through the show.

When the concert began with what I had seen listed as the Yellow Snow intro I expected them to vamp through it and start the Hot Rats music, but to my surprise they played the full album version of the song which was very timely since I had played it for RG on the drive to San Francisco

The Hot Rats material was fantastic and RG especially loved it since her Father was a Sax player in a Jazz/Blues band for 50 years and she grew up around a band with a variety of instruments, she especially got a kick out of the dedicated use of unique items to make certain sounds at the appropriate time in songs, she found this dedication to detail very appealing.

After the Hot Rats stuff the next thing that caught my untrained ear was the rendition of "Who are the Brain Police" was something completely different than I had heard before, I would venture to say it was their arrangement, but I am not sure.

Then we encountered an issue, RG is a huge lightweight and we have to pace her drinking and we were having so much fun and at so many locations we somehow got her just over the top and it mess's with her blood balance and I had to take her out for some fresh air, it almost became a medical emergency when one of the sharp eyed bar tenders gave her a red bull which she downed half and was back to normal in 10 minutes.

Well that incident caused me to miss 3 songs I really wanted to hear "We are Not Alone, Brown Moses (this is a biggy for me), and Heavenly Bank Account" which we came back in at the end of.

Zomby Wolf as always was great then came the SYB stuff and RG loves "I Have Been in You", we slow danced to it since wee were on the aisle, rocked out to BHAFA and Big Swifty which I also played for RG earlier was incredible with some sort of ad lib in there which I initially thought was the new keyboardist struggling with a difficult piece but then I saw DZ signaling.

Then came the real ad lib DZ tasked Adam with whipping up the classic "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" which he did very well in a crooners voice, but unsatisfied with that DZ then would say make up a song about Mentos, which he did and it was very funny but the piece of resistance "Bill Cosby Pudding Blues" well done and very funny.

The closing line up of Orange County Lumber Truck, Find Her Finer (one of my Favorites), and Lucille were great, but I am the Slim with Gretchen Menn from Zepparella tore it up with DZ, nice period there.

The encore starts with Muffin Man with what do you know Italian guitarist Daniele Gottardo who happens to be Gretchen's husband, was awesome then came Black Napkins the horn version extended to the max which is RG's favorite Zappa song we danced very provocatively to (I almost had an accident... ) and even caught Scheila looking our way getting a kick out of our dedication to it all.

Montana of course I have to do a full display of acting out the lyrics every time, I just can't help myself and Sofa No.1 was a great finish for RG which I also played for her earlier, her musical recall is amazing, when we do our Friday night 70's session that women knows every lyric to every song...now I know most of the words and sometimes all the words to the classics I grew up with , but that little firecracker knows every stinky word to every stinking song ...it blows my mind!

All and all we had a great time medical emergency not withstanding and I will give all the far to personal gory details on Plook on Tour when I have time to edit the pictures, this was an excellent show!!! :!:
