He 'does' want to work! Todd Rundgren says he's preparing new opera project and collaborative

Todd Rundgren currently is on the road with the star-studded “It Was Fifty Years Ago Today” tribute tour to The Beatles‘ “White Album,” but the lauded singer/songwriter has a variety of interesting music projects on the horizon.
Rundgren tells ABC Audio that among the projects “is a new original work” he says is like an opera or an operetta that will premiere in Amsterdam in November 2020.
“It’s a collaboration between me and [prog-rock guitarist, keyboardist and composer] Mike Keneally, and it’s…kind of based on a story line, so it’s got an arc to it and a plot.”
The 71-year-old musician also says he’s still preparing a previously reported new album that will be similar to his 2017 studio effort White Knight, which featured collaborations with Daryl Hall, Steely Dan‘s Donald Fagen, Joe Walsh and Nine Inch Nails‘ Trent Reznor, among others.
“The last one worked out really well for everyone involved, so figured why mess with success for a change,” Rundgren notes. Earlier this year, Todd told ABC Audio among the artists who may be featured on the upcoming record are Weezer‘s Rivers Cuomo, Crowded House frontman and Fleetwood Mac touring member Neil Finn and The Roots.
Meanwhile, Rundgren has been contributing to various other albums too. He plays guitar on a track on actor/singer David Hasselhoff‘s new record, Open Your Eyes, and reveals that he also lent his guitar talents to an upcoming solo project by ex-Yes singer Jon Anderson.
In addition, Todd says, “I did the lead vocal on a version of [King Crimson‘s] ’21st Century Schizoid Man,’ which is on a [forthcoming] Greg Lake tribute album.”
The “It Was Fifty Years Ago Today” tour is plotted out through a December 15 show in Jackson, California.

^^^This looks very interesting in does come within 100 miles of my place, it is up in the foothills so its almost a 2 hour drive one way but getting stuck overnight at a Casino isn't the worst thing that can happen to one...

If you go try to to get tickets up front. It’s not a very good venue. It’s like a big cafeteria type room with portable chairs all on the same level. Check on rooms soon too. Last time I went there I couldn’t get a room at the casino and had to stay at a hotel in town a few miles away.

I may be better off driving to Vegas...

Also, for the upcoming tour, TR will be playing A Wizard a True Star. For cities with 2-nights of showz, each night will hear 1/2 the album. For cities with 1 or 3 nights of showz, TR will run a live app to let the audience decide what they want to hear!

They rescheduled the LA shows for a Fri. & Sat. in Jan '21. I may go at least one night.

I ordered the Utopia 2018 CD/DVD and All Sides Of The Roxy CD. I should have it tomorrow.

Todd's gonna do the 1st "Virtual Tour" in Feb/March. Using geolocation, they will determine which showz you can stream, according to where you live. Todd will be performing these showz live from Chicago. Each of the 25 showz will allow 19 audience members. I blew the bank account and gots 2 tix for a Saturday show. There IS live music on the horizon!

Oh, and there is also "Flappie". BBP, is this all the rage over there?

Proving once again that necessity is the mother of invention, especially during these trying times, Todd will soon be embarking on the first-ever national virtual tour.
There will be a major announcement via RollingStone.com this Thursday at 9am EST/ 6am PST (which will also contain a link to the world premier of Todd’s Christmas single lyric video), at which time the “box office” will open to the general public. But as always Todd wants his loyal fans to have first dibs on several limited-quantity options available (e.g. virtual Meet & Greets, being a member of the virtual audience on camera, viewing the show from multiple camera angles, and, subject to COVID limits at the time on public gatherings, a handful of special tickets to attend in person).
If you live in the US, access to single tickets will be geofenced, you must reside in one of the 25 tour markets to purchase — anyone residing outside the US is exempt from the geofencing. There will be six different multiple-ticket bundles available as well, anyone living in the US but outside of the 25 tour cities who purchases a bundle will also be exempt from geofencing (note if you live in the US and don’t reside in one of the 25 tour markets, you will only see the multi-ticket bundles when you log in).
