It's here. I only played the bonus track of Disc 1 so far. My wife is off to a meeting later so I'll play the two discs then.

No neighbors, I just wanted to hear it all uninterrupted. I have choces:
1 boom box over on dresser
2 stereo in TV/computer room
3 iPod and headphones if I bother to charge it

Got thru most of it, disc 3 a bit hastily. General impression is that one should compare it to Wazoo. But there are the strings as well. No singing. The Rollo is not the blowjob Rollo.

I note it's a minute longer than the version on QuAUDIOPHILIAc. Guessing that's mostly just audience applause?

I'm not familiar with all Rollos. This wraps up at 6:40. But the melody sounds like the Yellow snow suite one.

it's fun to get FZ's intro's here, plus
the sound is superb making the dynamics very rich and immersive.

Thank YOU ZFT & Joe Travers etc.!!!

Black Napkins indeed is best presented like this... it's perfect and this fabulous 'Lumpy Gravy extract' has me laughing altogether out of characters... plus too, the greggery peccary sections are priceless HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHA
Maybe it's because I now hear connections between the long-listened songs Black Napkins, Bogus Pomp and Lumpy Gravy and Greggory Peccary bits, associations that I hadn't heard before... connections that unifies his body of work in still other ways...

YES! this should be made available and produced sent far and wide...
so thanks for taking the time and care to get it out

I just checked the place I ordered my copy (Burning Shed) and they are now sold out.
Always pays to pre-order early!

My copy arrived today. I've never been a big fan of Frank's orchestral albums, but the live show has changed me. The music is great and the sound quality is phenomenal! :D

This one will be in heavy rotation for a while. I am really enjoying this release far more than I expected. 8)

I wonder why they didn’t use a bootleg source to finish it off like they did to fill in the gaps on FZ/OZ.

Out of curiosity I did a local (online) search: no Orchestral Favorites 40th in Wellington, however for a cool NZ$95.95 I can get it freight free over-night from Real Groovy Records in the hell hole that is Auckland.....

I pre-ordered through Amazon US of A on July 6th, as of the second update today I'm paying NZ39.98 also freight free ETA September 18th.....aside from the excruciatingly torturous wait I'm happy with the deal so far.....

Coincidentally I'm penetrating the hell hole on September 18th 19th 20th for the Fleetwood Mac concert and will be doing the record store-instrument store-Maldivian Princess triple treat.....
Real Groovy have an Orchestral Favorites 40th vinyl for NZ$58.95 that appears to be a 5 track single LP, not really on my shopping list, but.....

The Good News: Mine arrived on Friday from Amazon via pre-order as planned. It's glorious. I enjoy the 'high brow' music mixed with the 'low brow' descriptions and snarky humor. Quintessential Zappa.

The Bad News: I left it on my coffee table and...well...the 'poodle' chewed it. Luckily the discs themselves are undamaged.

Got mine Saturday and RG Kat and I listened to it on the way to her sisters and what we heard (most of disc 3) was very good... :!:
