As Mr Nice Guy would say, I am a Fishbone Soldier (and an early Peppers admirer too)...

I have a year to wait, providing I don't speak to pretty women at petrol stations, I should actually get to see Steve Hackett this time around.....

I saw Steve Hackett in the end of may together with one of my two bosses. He paid half the price of my ticket as a birthday present and we sat in the first row (i also would have been happy sittin somewhere in the middle of the audience, but what the heck ;-)). It was open air in the courtyard of some castle and luckily the weather was good (the day before started with rain). I already had seen Hackett in 2017 together with my both bosses (where they commemorated the wind and wuthering album) and so i was warned that the concert would become brutally loud (crystal clear audio, but volume like a heavy metal band) and took a pair of earplugs with me. Maybe this should be a warning in advance for everybody who also will see the show  . Especially the sound of the pedalbass was unimaginable loud, as if it was solid and you could lean against it (maybe that is the deeper meaning of the term air-sculpture). As in 2017 the first half was solo-repertoire then the genesis material followed after a short intermission. It was great again, stunning musicianship, though i liked the drummer in 2017 a little bit more (drummer and 2nd guitarist were replaced). Some fans complain about the singer, in my humble opinion he is great and gets better the longer he does this songs. It is funny that he seems to sing the portions of Peter Gabriel with less effort than those of Phil Collins, but that is just my 50 cents. I also can reveal some secret, where the great playing of Steve comes from (my seat in the 1st row allowed me to observe it exactly): He has a bucket of cocaine powder on stage that he pours over his hands before he plays the tricky parts 8) . Expect a great show!

Just noticed the Aristocrats are playing in Sacramento on Monday. Good timing for me between treatments and whatnot so I whipped out the credit card and got a ticket. These guys are fantastic!

I saw Todd Rundgren’s The Individualist Tour last night. He did not disappoint. He played about two and a half hours counting the intermission.

See coevad’s recent list on the Rundgren/Andy thread. It’s identical (or very, very close) to last night’s show.

He hit on some corners of his catalogue that I wasn’t very familiar with (especially the second set). I’ll have to go see what albums some of those songs were on.
