He's over 1.5 million now. It's too bad, I used to like watching Jeopardy. There's no competition anymore.

OPP issue warning after fishing lines found strung across ATV trail

OPP are warning the public after a rider was knocked off their ATV when they struck a fishing line strung across a trail at Point Petre in South Marysburgh on Monday.

OPP say the line was Spiderwire, an extra-strength braided fishing line designed not to break.

Police were called to investigate. They say they found five other lines on the trail, some of which were strung at neck height.

WPLJ to leave airwaves at end of May
By Kenneth Garger
May 9, 2019 | 12:13am

After nearly 50 years on the radio, iconic station WPLJ will soon be off the airwaves.

“The rumors you’ve been hearing are true,” 95.5 PLJ revealed on Twitter Wednesday morning. “As hard as it is to believe, WPLJ will be going away on Friday, May 31.”

The New York City-based station was purchased by Education Media Foundation, the owners of K-LOVE Christian radio, earlier this year, according to Billboard magazine.

WPLJ signed on to the air in 1971 blasting rock music from artists including Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and The Doobie Brothers.

Their call letters were derived from “White Port and Lemon Juice,” a 1950’s rhythm and blues song covered by Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention.

In 1983 the station transitioned from an album-oriented rock format to contemporary hit radio.

Since the early 1990’s WPLJ has been playing adult contemporary music – and began to drop the “W” from their name.

Longtime fans took to Twitter to share their memories of the station.

“The end of an era!” tweeted @Andrew_J_Lowry. “Just heard @955PLJ will be signing off on 5/31. Been #1 preset on my radio for as long as I can remember.”

^^^^^ Amazing! ^^^^^

Some of the oldest native trees in NZ are dying out through disease and being food for deer goats and possum, all introduced species, along with mice rats and stoats that are doing their very best to wipe out the mainly flightless native birds..... :(

Australia Prime Minister Scott Morrison has claimed victory in the 2019 election, with results showing the Liberal National coalition is on track to be returned to government.

It was a stunning turnaround after every opinion poll over the campaign pointed to a Labor victory. Analysts are now saying Labor lost an "unlosable" election.

What killed the labor vote was that they were going to take way the fucking franking credits that the older well off retirees rely on here, which was freaking the oldies out ie (those over 65) and given the ageing pop. here that doomed labour to fail in the election

Australia is the only country in the world with refundable franking credits and allow rich old bastards to reduce their tax to Zero or even get a refund when they don't pay tax!. Hey maybe I should buy shares when I get older just in case Donald goes down
" Since 2001, retirees have been entitled to cash refunds of the tax already paid, even if they do not pay tax."
Yeah, we are a pretty Fuckedup country

US billionaire pays off entire student debt of 2019 graduating class at historic black college

The richest black man in America stunned a group of graduating students at the weekend by promising to pay off all their student debt.

“My family is going to create a grant to eliminate your student loans!” announced Robert F Smith, to scenes of jubilation at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia.

Mr Smith’s gift to the all-male, historically black college is estimated to be worth around $10 million (£7.9 million). There were 396 graduates in the class, and tuition, room and board, and other costs run about

$48,000 per year, according to David Thomas, president of the college.

"I don't have to live off of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches," Aaron Mitchom, 22, a finance student, said.
