Hi it's me i'm back

Anyone attend any of the dates on the Dweezil Prime Cuts tour?

I did last night, and oohhh boy it was awesome. I had purchased tickets that came with access to the sound check party. I was unable to attend the sound check party because of work. A theater employee told me 75 passes to the party were given out and all but 6 attended. So I felt better. If it was more exclusive and only 9 people showed up then I missed being the 10th I would be upset.

The set was full of deep cuts, lots of stuff from the 60's and different versions of songs that Frank recorded and Dweezil reproduced, such as a really sped up version of Florentine Pogen that surprised me. 34 songs in all! https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/dweezil-zappa/2018/columbus-theatre-providence-ri-5bec8bb0.html

I will always hold the 2 shows I saw in 2006 as the best Dweezil shows I have seen. This show is my 3rd favorite.

Plus I got to chat with Scheila Gonzales for about 5 minutes, and even snapped a picture with her. She is gracious genuine and very kind just as I imagined.

I could have consumed 1 less Narragansett beer and been in better shape today writing this (with slightly better memory) but I had Fun.

I'm glad Dweezil continues to do this.

Welcome back! The set lists for this tour do look great. I’m hoping for September or October for the west coast.

I was in attendance at the Dweezil Zappa show last night. Did any one see Dweezil invite the young man on stage to play with the band? He said to the kid "Play anything in the key of A, and the band will follow along." And did they! The kid was paralyzed with excitement that his fret hand stopped working. Dweezil played the guitar hand over hand with this young man. It was an amazing section of the concert. That kid got to live every audience member's dream. Well done Dweezil Zappa! Happy Birthday young man!

How cool would it have been to be able to buy the new FZ Lumpy Gravy Primordial limited edition Vinyl at the venue last night? Oh well... I was still able to secure my copy ; )
Thanks.

Chris Norton.
Very good singer. At times smooth like say Bobby Martin.
Plays keys, percussion, violin

No, not Chris. The guy between Chris and Dweezil.

My friend Nic glad to see you back I am looking forward to this tour but we doughnut have any dates yet...Sounds like you had an awesome time, the last gig last year out here was phenomenal, it seems like they get better every time I see them and I have seen every tour (sometimes twice a year) except two due to Terri's illness.

Hey I think I will be in the RI this year down for another lunch at that killer Greek place?

:D

Saw the Buffalo show on 4/18, my 14th DZ/ZPZ show since '06, 10th time they've played Buffalo area. Awesome show indeed, and amazing setlist. Highlights for me were Fifty-Fifty(killer vox by Cian), Absolutely Free, Rollo suite, BtM(Studebaker Hoch section),Sleep Napkins, & especially Drowning Witch.
New beardo guy is Adam Minkoff who I know nothing about, but apparently is a graduate of UB where the concert was held. He was great in all aspects - vox/percussion/rhythm guitar. Only thing I missed about the guy who he replaced from fall '16(Steve?) was the baritone sax, which added a lot to the Joe's Garage material .
Adam must have schooled the band on local Buffalo folklore, because there were mentions of a few suburbs and eateries by Kurt/Scheila in Vegetable & Flakes for instance. Scheila's & Cians vocals together were amazing, those harmonies! I didn't care much for Cian singing lead on Keep It Greasey though. And also I thought the encore of "Oh, In The Sky" was a waste of Minkoff's great voice. To go for the doo-wop on a mediocre encore cover, yet not touch anything from "Cruisin w/ Ruben" was a total waste. Maybe next tour they'll get to Ruben?

I asked if he ever plays / goes to the Baked Potato and got a pretty solid No. He said he knew alot of people who do play there though, then onto the next poster to sign.
