"Going Off Alarming" is the 2nd volume of autobiography by the English London Cockney writer/broadcaster Danny Baker. Wherein (along with fellow NME drunk Monty Smith) he encounters and pisses off FZ. He also talks entertainingly of "Percy the Tramp" being his father's nickname for Frank.

It is easily found and read online if you search Frank Zappa + Monty Smith + Danny Baker.

Thing is, this was supposed to be for an NME interview, and I'm buggered if I can find said article anywhere. It either didn't get printed or has escaped the notice of even the most anal online FZ document-compiler.

Any ideas where one might read it? @1980 methinks!

I remember Frank talking about his distaste for Britain. I imagine this came from unpleasant encounters with the music press, unflattering media coverage, his experience with the legal system over the 200 Motels concert, and certainly not leastly, the assault that put him in the hospital. Though it seems his popularity with fans in England was just as strong as anywhere else.

As neither English nor a drinker I would like to see how it turned out in NME.
