I drove a friend to Grimey's to pick up his Americanafest materials and wristbands, so while he waited in line I perused Grimey's Too and picked these two remastered CDs up for $6.53US:

OK, so I went out last night to an Americanafest event to see Will Kimbrough at Fond Object Records downtown. What a deal; great live music, free beer, pizza, and cookies inside a cool place, a record store. Waiting for Will and band to set up, I perused the small CD selections and came away with a few bargains.

I picked all this up at The Great Escape in Madison, starting outside with the 5-for-free sale, CDs:
Imageno case or j-card, just CD & booklet in plastic sleeve, made in Australia
Imageno case or j-card, just CD & booklet in plastic sleeve
Imageno case or j-card, just CD & booklet in plastic sleeve (sort of) second copy
Imageno case or j-card, just CD & booklet in plastic sleeve, made in Russia on one CD minus one song
Imagesecond copy, but different mastering

So I got more than 5 free, so the remained were $1 each

So after quickly getting hot outside, I got my freebies plus extras checked, bagged, and I went inside, with my $1 off coupon, where I found 99¢ CDs at 40% off, so I grabbed these:

Recently purchased the complete 107 Symphonies of Joseph Haydn featuring the Austro-Hungarian Haydn Orchestra and conducted by Adam Fischer.

Simply can't get enough of Haydn, he's right up there with Frank Zappa without a doubt.

It would have been nice if they had done the only surviving piece of the 106th Symphony so that there would have been a semblance of all 108 surviving Haydn symphony works but as there are actually only 107 complete symphonies that survived from the 18th century the title of the set is justified. The scariest part is that there is believed to be more Haydn symphonies and even Haydn himself wasn't sure of the actual count. What a true musician, more concerned with writing music than keeping records.

I've often pictured Frank like that. Sure he had the vault but what mattered the most was the current project he was working on. Also achieving optimum quality for the final albums and shows.

How awesome was it to get an idea of what it would have been like practicing with Frank's band thanks to the Joe's series (currently Joe's Corsage, Joe's Domage, Joe's Xmasage, Joe's Camouflage and Joe's Menage), I really enjoyed them as there like a story and the thrill of imaging sitting in the room and listening to the rehearsals.

Damned impulse buying! As I went through the door my only thought was maybe I'll find an Alice Cooper's Dirty Diamonds CD to replace my old vapourised copy.....

I may have to do some fast talking to explain the expenses.....
