That's really sad. She won along the first Brazilian to ever be awarded with the Fields Medal. RIP.

Peter Principle of Tuxedomoon. A real pity - every time they played Berlin we went. Here's an amateur clip from Berlin...

He was a rock-solid bassist for a band with no drummer.

^^^ Maybe hedonistic '80's hair metal wasn't so bad after all. Having a good time, no matter how silly, seems like such a better alternative than all the presumed aesthetically superior and serious rock of the '90's and afterwards leading to the apparent graduation to suicide or overdose. Somebody better keep an eye on Eddie Vedder. He's the only one left.

Eddie's Vedder's a down to earth kind of guy, he has and loves his family and is surrounded by good people.....(met him five or six years ago, definitely not your archetypical rock star)

Long Live Eddie Vedder

(rumored to own a Roxy SG) 8)

RIP Chester..... :(

Posts claiming 'Mr Bean' Rowan Atkinson is dead are FAKE and can give your computer a virus

Fake news posts claiming Rowan Atkinson has died are circulating on social media.

The stories falsely report the Consett born Mr Bean star died in a car crash in Los Angeles, and have been widely shared on Facebook and Twitter.

But the posts - which claim to be from Fox News - are fake and reportedly link to a scam website which can give your computer a virus.

Their headline reads: “FOX BREAKING NEWS: ‘Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson)’ died at 62 After Crashing his Car on Attempt perfecting a Stunt - Today July, 2017”.

If you see the post on your timeline, do not click on it. It is not by Fox News, and the video it prompts does not exist.

Myth debunking site Hoax Slayer say some of the links will direct you to fake security error pages, which claim your computer has been locked and ask you to ring a support number.

Hoax Slayer says you should definitely NOT call that number.

They say: “You will be prompted to call a ‘support number’ urgently to seek help with the supposed security issue. However, if you do call as instructed, tech support scammers will try to trick you into giving them your credit card details, ostensibly to pay for the repair of your computer.

The scammers may also try to trick you into downloading software that will allow them to take control of your computer, steal your files, and install malware.”

I shelled out the big bucks for a dvd copy of Elevator to the Gallows (1958) (original title: Ascenseur pour l'échafaud).

In black and white, and French and German, with music by Miles Davis. Great movie!

A self-assured businessman murders his employer, the husband of his mistress, which unintentionally provokes an ill-fated chain of events.

Country Music Legend Glen Campbell Dies at 81

Image

Country legend Glen Campbell, whose crossover hits “Gentle on My Mind,” “By the Time I Get to Phoenix” and “Rhinestone Cowboy” forged a lasting bridge between country and pop music, died Tuesday. He was 81.

In 2011, Campbell announced he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and mounted a well-publicized farewell tour. His official Twitter posted the news.

Campbell was hardly the first country artist to break out of the rural regional radio ghetto — the Nashville Sound of Patsy Cline and Jim Reeves had produced several wide-appeal hits in the early ’60s — but his influence in expanding country music’s parameters and fanbase was substantial. His signature hits often combined orchestral arrangements and traditional pop hooks with countrified lyrical themes and vocal stylings, catalyzing both the “countrypolitan” and soft rock subgenres that would proliferate in the 1970s. (John Denver and Kenny Rogers both owe much of their careers to Campbell’s example.)

He sold more than 45 million records in his career and topped the country singles chart 12 times.
