A couple of days ago I was helping family of our fallen z-forum family member Kapt. Kiiirk remove some stuff from out of his apartment. One of the things I rescued from the dumpster was a cd called "The Unmoderated" which I recognized to be a product of the Zappa forum members. I do remember this call to arms but didn't participate. The copyright is 2004 and surprisingly it's a very listenable cd. It was produced by Arkay with product supervision by MentalTossFlycoon. Cover Art by White Person and Arkay. Art Direction by Miss Kitty.

I guess anybody who participated or has it I'd be interested to hear comments on how it was made. I imagine there is a long buried thread on the subject if somebody wants to redirect this topic there.

I could have sworn I sent Kirk a copy, I guess he bought or somehow got the real thing.

Here's the original thread - the last post is from 2005.

I didn't see it. I remember last time I was there he had some of your stuff hanging on the wall but they were gone. He had some Zappa light plates on the light switches - were those yours?

Maybe it was what you sent. It's a cd-r with handwriting on it and the cover has a hand drawn Zappa mustache on it. It also contained two pages of xeroxed liner notes/art.

Thanks for bringing up the old days KUIII. Nice to remember those times. A bit sad in that I wish Sebastiaan and others were still around. Seb was a huge part of the project. Someday I'm gonna travel to Europe and meet the guy, though that idea is still probably years from happening.
In a more current time frame, I'll try to take some pix of stuff from The Unmoderated in the next few days or so.

I hope his wife lets you... then again you're not a woman. His girl made him break contact with me. I found that very upsetting and unsettling.

Thanks for helping out Kirk, KU3! And what an awesome carvings, Trip!

I have a copy of this. It was made a year or two before my time but I would have liked to take part in it. It's a cool application of the xenochrony idea.

So did Kapt Kiirk pass away? :(

Another artifact from The Unmoderated. Sebastiaan sent a piece of music to swiftkicknow, who added to it, then sent it to White Person, who added to it, then sent it to me.

Ah the good ol' days.... Just yesterday I ran across my copy while reorganizing my CDs. Popped it on and listened to a good bit of it. Def stands the test of time! Even more thanks to Arkay.

Any chance, if there was enough interest, this would be circulated again? Maybe groupfunded by forum members to be pressed as a silver disc (or double vinyl album)? Or just as a download? I was around (with a different username) back when it was made but not active enough to partake or consume at that time.
