So, check this out...
Yesterday, I just recieved a new voter ID card. All of my mailing address information is correct, but...at the top of the card, it says that due to redistricting, the location where I've done all of my vote casting since 1988, and which is easy walking distance for me, has been changed to what is now in a completely inconvenient location in a high crime neighborhood. Now I live in an older, but well kept neighborhood where most of the residents own their homes, and have lived here much longer than I. Also, thare are a lot of elderly and disabled people who live around me.
It came as no surprise to me as the entire government in my state, which is Michigan, and each branch, most municipalities, Secretary of State and the courts is controlled by Republicans by a wide enough margin that the minority party, being Democrat, don't have enough votes to block or over ride any sort of legislation. So, that being the case, they changed the voter ID law, redistricted all of the larger cities, and brought in these new emergency managers to dissolve the local governments of smaller, Democrat leaning towns, suburbs and cities.
So, interestingly enough, the gov't didn't implement the new redistricting changes until after the Republican primaries in my state. I wonder why?
It seems to me that the Republican party is fully engaged and going for broke while they currently hold new found majorities in what are traditionally considered to be "blue states". They are aggressively pushing laws and changes that directly affect voters rights, womens rights, eliminating elected officials positions from Democrat leaning cities through the newly passed emegency management laws, and well basically, prepping my country for it's very own Berlin style/Great Wall of The Fascist States Of America.
For the first time in my life, I have no words to aptly describe my absolute contempt and anger towards the Republican party, both locally and nationally. You revoke my Constitutional Right to vote, I will fight back with every means at my disposal, non-violently of course, though I highly doubt that that sentiment will be recipricated, gauging from the typical Tea Party Militia NRA Nugent/Limbaugh/Glenn Beck/Palin "chop their heads off", "shoot 'em in the head", "don't retreat, reload" rhetoric. I'd rather be a martyr than a terrorist.
Sad thing is that the Liberatarian leaning people, or at least those who claim to be, who are always so gung-ho about being Constitutionalists in my state/country, are mysteriously silent about this one. At least the one percenters will benefit. I'm sure they're all just relishing in all of the new found wealth they've accumulated from the mass of foreclosures and the busted unions.
If you shrink the size of government, you only put more power and control into fewer peoples hands. That is the true definition of fascist extremism. Every street block will have it's own warlord if we allow it to happen.
Wake the fuck up and don't be fucking stupid. My fucking voting rights are being fucked with, and Im Goddamned mad as Hell, and you should be too, because your's are next.Who will they blame it on? You guessed it. The black guy in office.

Now I expect that most people on this forum will gloss over this like it won't affect you, so you don't care, and the peanut gallery Republican supporters here will pile on in typical fashion. But at the end of the day and in all reality, this will effect everybody in the worst possible way. Regardless which party you vote for. You owe it to your children and grandchildren, to hand them a country where everybody who is a US has a right to vote, and you, and they won't be purged from the rolls because you're registered to a certain political party other than Republican.
If the Democrats were in the same position that the Republican party is now, and pulling the same shit in reverse, at least in my state, there would be Timothy McVeigh style incidents happening on a daily basis.
Obama getting elected as the first black president has been a real eye opener. We now know that prejudice and racism are more rampant than ever.
