I definitely wouldn't read that as a polite and simple request. It is an ultimatum: Either you do what I want, or we don't deal.
I agree....

But the fact that Dweezil makes an issue out of Andre's presence is just unprofressional and immature. (And he appears to be throwing some bits of slander into the blog on the side by stating that Andre has violated copyright laws; where is the court evidence for that serious assertion?)
Hear hear! I found Dweezil's personal note to Andre (or was I not supposed to read that part?) very insulting. Andre has dedicated years (decades?) to Frank and his music and getting people to hear it all throughout the world (when ZFT wasn't doing anything in the live market, might I add) and then Dweez goes on and on to insult him in the end of his post. Very hurting, conceited remarks, IMO.
I will add this though, and it is a fact, no matter how the ZFT want to shade it.
I saw P/O three times over the course of four years. I got to see Napi and Ike. I got to see them share a stage. That was when there was little other option if one wanted to see Zappa played live. (Yes there were, at the time, other tribute bands to Zappa, but P/O was the ONLY one I could see), so sure to me they hold a special place as they were the first band of live people I ever got to witness attempt FZ's music; and for that I will always have a soft spot for them.
ZPZ:
In Aug I will see them for the third time in as many years; and yes, fine they are a better sounding band. But one can hardly blame them, they have access to better equipment more rehearsal time, and possibly some other "things" that outsiders won't. So good for them for being a better band.
But sales are down this year, they are playing smaller venues, maybe we won't have this in five years.
But you know who will likely be touring in five years? That's right.
Sure it may not be official, but lets face it, if P/O was not doing things on the up and up (playing clubs that pay ASCAP fees, ect) then Andre would have been sued beyond poverty by now, so I don't feel bad for the ZFT. Sorry, I just don't.
And fuck you to anyone who wishes to dictate to me how to best appreciate the music of FZ. (Hi Gary!!)
This my dick is bigger than your dick shit is getting so old. dz did not help his cause with his blog, which by the way, he had every right to do. But pontificating for 20 or so paragraphs about something he claims he doesn't care or worry about made him look foolish; which is kinda what he was calling Andre (amongst other things).
Ahh, the irony.
If ZPZ plays for another ten years, I will have seen them each and every time.
If P/O plays another ten I will see them too.
Why?
(I'm pretty sure I've said this before.)
It's about the music, stupid.
It should not about Them vs Us, it really is that simple.
