Hey Everyone,
It was four years ago today that I joined the Zappa Forum! Yup, leap day 2004. Jimmie D and i road tripped to Philly to see Ike Willis perform with the Paul Green School of rock students. *old timers*...remember White Person a.k.a. Whitey? He was there and even gave us a ride to our hotel Ffrom the gig so we didn't have to cab it.I miss him and that wicked sense of humor. Anyway.....
It wasn't until the ride home that jimmie had to explain to me who White Person was and how he came to know him. He said he was an acquaintance he knew from the Zappa Forum and I was like, "what is the Zappa Forum?". When we got back to Maryland, I logged onto the Forum and I have to admit I was completely addicted for months, maybe even years.
I decided in April of 2004 that I wanted host a Mother's Day Zappa party at my home and invited anyone from the Z Forum who wanted to attend. This is how I came to know XYQA who is now one of my closest friends in the world.
Zardoz came to that party....again, old timers, what ever happened to him do we know?
Then there was the Zappaween party...
Dovey picked Sabby up and they both drove cross country to attend. The even hit a deer on the way and that didn't stop them!! Batchain drove from bean town. XYQA drove up from cabbage town. Let's see...a fellow that went by Andy was there and brought a cake that had the Barking Pumpkin logo air brushed on it. Shhhh, I don't think he had permission from the ZFT (sorry Gail). Of course jimmie d was there an put together really cool gift bags of zappa goodies for everyone who made the trip. I'd have to look back at the pictures to remember who else showed? We dined on burnt weeny sandwiches, devoured Suzy Creamcheese Dip and drank husky wee wee. What a blast that was!! One day I am going to do that again, stay tuned...
I have to say that the first few years here were a blast. Things feel different now, not necessarily bad but but definitely not the same as it used to be for whatever reason. I seem to spend more time on Myspace these days which is chock full of happy Zappa fans.
Thanks to everyone here for enriching my life in one way or another over the last four years!!
ZAPPACHEERS!!
