Thanks, p.d., 1956 was indeed my birth year, but if you feel the need to send gold, frankincense or myrrh you have to wait till September for my birth month, on 24th of which I'll attain half a ton (or four ponies) and wretchedness. Yippee!

So what was that post about back in May then?

I had an ulterior motive for referring to 1956 as a good year, I reached half a ton back on the 4th of March this year. A funny thing I noticed about age the other day was this character in a classic cop show from way back having a whinge about how he was now fifty and he was having this that and the other problem with his health like he was ready for the scrap heap, which is hilarious. I don't feel that way at all.

Oh, nothing more sinister than that this was an old movie mag celebrating the soon-to-be-over year 1956, and that being my birth year I couldn't resist fiddling with the front cover a bit and celebrating it more meaningfully. And yes, poly, it's all nonsense this so-called "ageing" thing, isn't it? Don't know about you, but when I reached about 35 I decided to stay there - and have been that way for 15 years so far. Even when bits of body start dropping off in earnest, I'm sticking to 35 - fuck it, I say!

Oh, very droll Cal, thou knavish poltroon - but thanks anyway...

I've never been called a poltroon before. A coward yes, but the Queen's English version is much better.

Oh, now you've gone and done it. I know you are not a chap to take things literally, but others most likely will do, so now I am forced to dismount my charger, hitch up my surcoat and bend on knee before my leige-lord to crave pardon, for fuck's sake. People, I do hereby declare and make proclamation forthwith that I do not consider Sir Cal of Calvinshire to be a coward - I just think "poltroon" is a fab & groovy word and took a fancy to call him one. By my troth, I was not being callous. Satisfied, thou knock-kneed, noodle-pated nincompoop?

I thought being called a poltroon was much preferable to a coward, I thought it was cool, that's all. You're the one with his knickers in his sphincter.

And yes, eagle-eyed continuity girls - I know I already used this line here before, but I couldn't resist it ...
