Hi everybody !<br><br>I've heard this story about Frank many times, but I've never read it from any books about him, so I wonder if it's true or just an urban legend...so here it goes:<br><br>Frank started a concert in Germany with saying "sieg heil" (or "heil Hitler" according to some versions of this story) and raising his hand to the nazi salute. The audience was confused at first, but after Frank repeated it couple of times, people started to answer to the salute. Then FZ said something like "That's what I thought, you haven't learned anything" and cancelled the concert. <br><br>I think it's a kind of a sad story and doesn't really fit to Frank's style, but maybe he had a bad day...if this has ever happened  ???

That story smells very fish like to me. I really cant imagine Frank would be so tactless. It's certainly not a story I've ever heard before.

Amazing!! I heard that story when i was in seventh or eight grade in school ( about 15 years ago) from an older guy ( a drummer, not that it´s important). At the time i sort of knew who Frank was, but had never really listened to his music. However the story stuck in the sporadically visited regions of my small teenage mind..<br><br>After i became a fan of FZ and got more into his persona i concluded that this story was just something that the older guy came up with himself (the version i heard included Frank in a WWII nazi costume) . Also the fact that i never heard that anywhere else seemed to back up my theory. Apparently i was wrong.<br><br>Still, i cannot believe that shit. Not his style at all. No way.

Another rumor...<br>I've been told that on one occasion, for a two-sets show, he appeared on stage, alone, for the first set, with nothing but a record player. He, apparently, played his favorites for 45 minutes before saying thanks, take an intermission, and come back with the band at the second set. I've been told that it was a way for him to get rid of the non-fans. And, no, I'm not talking about Kauffman !<br>True or not, I find it funny !  ;D<br>

It was during a mid-seventies tour when Frank came on stage alone and just played giutar for an hour or so. Later  the whole band came along to play. <br>I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THAT SHOW ON TAPE, if true!!!<br><br>The "Sieg Heil" Story is also news to me. And I am around FZ universe for 23 years now, and I live in Germany. Supposedly I should at least have heard of that one. <br>BUT: I was on a Faith No Nore Gig in mid-nineties and during their song Crack Hitler, in the section that has those heavy "Hey! Hey! / Heil(?)!" shouts on the beat, the audience went along shouting them with their hands or fists up in the air. Mike Patton shook his head, turned around and almost stopped the gig as if to say: that is exactly twhat the song IS NOT about.... However.  <br><br>

Thanks everybody for your replies. (Actually I also heard this story from a drummer - like palokas....hmmm...?!)<br><br>Anyway, I've always thought that it's just one of those "eating shit onstage" type of stories, but sometimes this kind of hype can affect the mind of a foolish young consumer...

Zappa was VERY cynical at times, but some of you here seem to forget that. hi everybody!<br><br>now theres the truth comin up, guys....it came from one -who was there( zombwolf, who is my very boyfriend and a zappa adict for ages)! it was on a show in around 78 in frankfurt/germany and he was callin to the audience, that he would not start the show until everybody was sitting down. the cause was, that he wanted everybody in to see the show and that was not possible when not everybody was sitting down.  nobody listened, so he started a little stand up- sit down-game, until everybody  joined this thing. he refused to play until this was done anyway. <br>some people stood up again and so he started calling "Sieg Heil" because that was the only thing stupid germans would understand. then the band played on.....it must have been a strange way of communication anyway but i guess that funny terms are accepted when leading to pleasant effects....<br>nevertheless i just saw a quite funny documentary bout frank, where fans (and him..)had pretty much fun in his dressin room, callin out(guess what???)"Sieg Heil"! they all had a really good time and the only upcoming question was, if they really had nothin else to do with their time..<br>from"a life as an extravaganza"/german docu., 15 th.minute time approx. watch this, its the prove....theres nothing to it, folks! relax!<br>love and regards,<br>wowie zowie!<br>

Hmm, oyu never know if this can be true, it can be true.<br><br>But germans are not THAT dumb that they let the nazism would grow back up now would they? They are infact maybe the only country n the world that are having a good pail on the nazism and everything.<br><br>Anyway,i heard that when some germans came to my school for a visit someone made the hitler salute to them at the airport( ), i think that was very unresponsible by him/her.<br><br> -/dr_grogg<br><br>

hello doc and everybody else!<br><br>just like i told you, this story was told to me by one who had watched the very show that story was happening..<br>well, maybe they started the same thing over again at another place, i do not know that.<br> in any way i think, that was really CYNICAL, sure, but not meant to be that kind of an affront the thing had turned (by storytelling) lateron. of course it was a really big deal, because still nobody dares to touch germanys nazi past and if so, theres always a lot of trouble.<br>i mean, i`m german myself (one half, the other one is greek) and so is the zomb. we surely are no nazis(oh hell, just thinking of all the trouble with nazi skinheads  we have been through in the past, i have even been arrested once because of one such rumble)but really familiar to history(german and common). our generation is not responsible for the shit our grandparents did, either willing or by force, although we surely have to live with it and handle it somehow. nazism  nowadays(for sure it exists,  not only in germany, but in most countries in europe and in america too...) is not a mass phenomenon like in the old days anymore. <br>although it exists in a lot of dumbasses`minds, especially in the eastern german counties, i dare to believe we have bigger problems than them. mostly every kind of business is breaking down at the moment, taxes are rising, as well everybodys pay is going down(lucky one, who still has a job over here..theres more people unemployed than ever), we are about to be kicked off insurances we have to pay for by law and when our generation (I`m 31 by now) is about to retire one day we can expect a great big nothing although we had to pay for this all life. that has not been caused by nazis but our so called socialist democratic  government. hooray!politics really suck over here at the moment.<br>by the way, i was attacked as a nazi many times when visiting other countries(for example england) and they found out, i was from germany on the one hand. on the other hand i got into trouble with german nazis because i wasn`t. sounds like big fun, hah? <br>such is stupid and a real drag.<br>i am human and won`t let any of them bastards bug me.<br>freedom of mind and speech is one of the most important things to me(for me and others), but surely these people can always expect a good reply...<br>anyway, you can start a joke on EVERYTHING(oh and how this eases the mind), why not on nazis?<br>i guess thats the thing most people do not understand(or are not able to share that kind of humor).<br>anybody knows the movie"springtime for hitler" by mel brooks? thats a really goooood example! <br>even caught in a real mess we should not take ourselves too serious....<br>have a nice day<br><br>wowie zowie!<br>

Yeah we do alot of jokes wich includes the nzi sign in school, like going: "my dog jumped this high today" or "we go that way, we go that way"<br><br> ;D<br><br>Well nazist does atleast exist today because they see old tapes with hitler speaking and he was a man that where good at speaking to people (something oyu can't get away with) and thats maybe why there is nazism around in the world.....sad but true ::)<br><br> -/dr_grogg<br><br>
