This one from 1980, when a Navy band greeted him at the San Francisco Airport...

Joe's Garage

Maybe not just favourite, because then the thread wouldn't last long, maybe particularly memorable? I have two similar ones to start off. I went to some party when I was nineteen in late 1975 and not long after arriving these amazing sounds filled the room that turned out to be the intro of Inca Roads. My first listen and an unexpected treat.

When I was twenty two in early 1979, I'd been out and about and after I returned home, my brother was there with a friend of ours and soon after I sat down this amazing guitar feedback came on and turned out to be Filthy Habits. Our friend had just bought it and couldn't get around quick enough to show us.

I was known back in those days as the most full on Zappa fan around and since being turned on to his music in late 1973 and early 1974 after hearing Just Another Band and Live at The Fillmore in various contexts was tipped into fanaticism when a mate of mine played Overnite Sensation for me sometime later in 1974. After that I just madly bought Zappa albums as quick as I could. So, the two events above were mates of mine point scoring, because on these two occasions they got there first. Which was great, because you can't buy memories like that.

Joe's Garage

That's a really moving moment. It's high on my list too.
