Did he? I mean crowd-famous songs like Bobby Brown and other stupid songs. Did Zappa and his other players like those songs?

If it wasn't for the stupid songs, "Civilization Phaze III" and all his other important stuff would never have been more than dots on a page (or in his head).

frank liked his own stuff; what pissed him off was that fans liked bobby brown & only bobby brown, or that way more fans preferred dinah-mo than freakout! or grand wazoo

never would have guessed jumbo go away was complex, certainly not on a par with black page, moggio or even marqueson's chicken & inca roads :-X

I think Frank let people have their own opinions and musical tastes....[/quote]
that's true, but he didn't necessarily like it....same with his guitar; he thought he was over-appreciated as a guitarist & would rather than being taken as a whole guitar/ lyrics/ composition/ satire/ orchestration/ c.c./ etc. package .... like the people were sayin to him:

shut the fuck up frank & just play your guitar already ???
