One of my oldest and dearest friends lives in Weaverville, right between Eureka and Redding. The Carr fire has been doing a slow march through that area for over a week, swallowing up little towns along the way. The front line is now about ten miles from my friend's house. If the fire makes it to Lewiston and then manages to cross the Trinity River, Weaverville is fucked.

Think good thoughts...

I’m 80 miles to the south of Redding and the air quality was so bad today because of the fire that we had to cancel many of our outdoor activities. It’s only smoke though. Wishing everybody the best up there. Six lives lost at last count. I hope your friend is prepared to evacuate if necessary.

We fixed that with duct tape, a piece of used chewing gum, and a length of bailing wire...

Astronaut Alexander Gerst, aboard the International Space Station, tweeted these photos showing the wildfires burning across California...

The battle is being lost I hope those Ozzy's and Kiwi's know something we don't because the freaking whole valley is full of smoke as well as the Sierra Range, the Pacific Range and parts of Northern and central Nevada...if anyone doesn't get the scope of that, look at a map... :(

They’re no Ozzys but Styx pledges $15,000.00 to Carr Fire. Way to go Styx!

That makes sense. It's winter there, so hopefully their fires have cooled down a bit. And sharing knowledge is always a good thing...

I'm starting to smell it now. At least we have a moderate onshore flow going.
The heat wave is subsiding a bit, too.
No fires in LA County so far. I'll be in Griffith Park on Sunday night for the Alice Cooper/Ace Frehley concert.   :smoke:

I was making fun of a couple gals smoking cigs in our smoke infested air a couple of days ago. My throat's scratchy, my eyes are goopy in the morning, and I'm somewhat congested from all this crap in the air. Hopefully, the wind keeps it away for awhile.

California Governor Jerry Brown signed legislation today naming surfing as the state’s official sport. Personally, I would have gone with beer pong.

For Plook and Coevad: I’ve been watching a new show on AMC called Lodge 49 about a Long Beach surfer dude trying to find himself in a crazy Masonic type lodge after the death of his father. Thought it might be up your respective alleys. Sorry no link.
