My son's band are on their way right now from Northern California to play a gig tomorrow night in Tuscon, AZ for a parenting conference. You can help fund their trip through tomorrow if you want through this link or you can just check them out. They are all high school seniors. My son's the one that does most of the talking and plays keyboards and is the lead singer. I've haven't convinced him to play any Zappa yet but they play a lot of '70's funk and R & B (Earth, Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder, Commodores, etc.) plus a lot of other stuff. They call themselves Clean Ocean. I'm a proud Dad.

Thanks, maps! Yes, their repertoire is pretty impressive. They've played all '80's shows, they can play more modern rock and r & b, Dave Matthews type stuff, blues rock (I Don't Need No Doctor, Crossroads, etc.). It will be interesting to see how they develop over the next few years. My son's planning on majoring in music in college so he's all in. I told him they needed to learn at least one Zappa song for my sake and he agreed. He's seen ZPZ with me a couple of times and Chick Corea made a huge impression on him when ZPZ was touring with RTF.

Thanks again, Maps, and everyone else for the encouraging words. It's fun watching my son pursue his dream. Being a decent musician was just a fantasy of mine when I was that age (and older) but he's going for it. I'm not delusional on the possibilities but I won't shut the door on them either. He loves it and he's doing what he wants to. I couldn't be happier for him.

I keep telling him they need to learn a zappa song. I recommended Lemme Take You To the Beach. We'll see.

You're not the only one, but you don't have to have an account to watch the video. Nice KUIII! I know you're a proud dad.
