Frank always said that taking a full band on tour was too expensive. Terry "Ted" must have listened to him.

Mastodon was excellent though the relentlessness of their onslaught kind of wears on you after awhile. They took the stage with the temperature at 101 degrees and had to face directly into the sun for their entire set. Primus had the advantage of at least going on after the sun went behind the grandstand (this is a temporary amphitheater that the casino puts up on their asphalt parking lot for their summer concert series). They played a few of their old songs before performing their new album in its entirety. Unfortunately, the new album isn’t that great imo. I left before they were done with that but could hear Jerry Was A Race Car Driver as I was driving by heading out of Dodge. A mediocre stoner/groove metal band called Jjuujjuu opened with a sprawling 20 minute set.

My friend got a free pair of tickets for Jeff Beck this Friday. He has an extra ticket. Any takers?
