Trio shot putting up Christmas lights

Last updated 11:43, November 25 2016

Three men hanging Christmas lights have been shot after getting into an argument with a passing motorist in the US city of Philadelphia.

The victims told authorities they were decorating a home in the city's Juniata neighbourhood on Wednesday night when a man drove by and asked if any of them had hit his car.

Authorities say the question led to an argument, and someone in the car fired at the group.

"The vehicle drove approximately 30 to 40 feet [nine to 12 metres] past the complainants, then slowed down, stopped, and backed up to where the complainants were standing," a police report stated. "The front passenger then asked the complainants if they had a problem and if they had hit his car.

"At that time, another male who was standing outside with the complainants, asked the front passenger if he had a problem," the police report continued.

It was then someone in the dark grey Chevy Impala opened fire.

The victims are 28, 34 and 36. They were transported to area hospitals and listed in stable condition.

Police have a description of the suspects.

There's a difference between terrorism, warfare and your everyday roadrage. In Europe people with road rage might flip fingers or honk car horns.

Walmart apologizes for sign marketing guns as back-to-school items

Image

Walmart has condemned a display inside one of its stores that appeared to market firearms as back-to-school items. The company said Wednesday it was working to identify which of its stores put up the exhibit.

A photo of a sign reading "Own the school year like a hero" was placed directly above a glass case filled with guns. Photos of it spread like wildfire on social media.

People cried foul on Twitter and demanded an explanation from Walmart. One person asked: "What are you suggesting?"

Walmart responded to some of the comments by calling the display "truly awful" and "horrible."

Spokesperson Charles Crowson told CNNMoney that the company is "not happy" and is "working diligently" to find out where the photo was taken and ensure the sign has been removed.

Congratulations Americans, you broke a new record! The Vegas shooting is now the deadliest in recent US history with 50 casualties! Orlando scored only 49.

Also congratulations for Donald Trump for having something to distract people from Puerto Rico.

The gun debate was over 5 years ago (no matter what side you're on) when 20 kids where slaughtered with guns. I really don't know why people even think there's a debate anymore - if nothing could get passed then, why would it now?

Don't give up hope. Change can happen. Sometimes it takes far too long but it can happen.

Either way, the gun industry makes out like bandits. Every mass shooting (it seems) causes a spike in gun and ammo sales for fear that soon all will be confiscated because of intentional rumor,so 'stockpile now' is the mentality; but sure, keep marketing automatic & semi-auto for hunting and home protection. & what do the end up calling them: defensive weapons.

Isis uses suicide bombers.
NRA uses mass shooting.

Finally we can stop talking about kneeling football players, which was (not) ripping the nation asunder.

Saw one of these stickers on the back of a pickup truck while at a gas station. Suffice it to say, I had to exercise restraint, but I still gave the guy a dirty look as he drove past.

Remember this fool, "the shoe bomber" who tried to bring down an airplane with exploding shoes? Well, he thankfully failed and hundreds of lives were spared. Now as a result, anyone who has to fly must briefly remove their shoes for inspection. Sure people grumble about it, and yet they still go through with it. No big deal.

The same can be said for high powered weapons. Legislation needs to be drawn up to restrict their use. Let the people grumble and protest. Anyone who needs firepower greater than the local police force or military should move to a better neighborhood 100 miles away.
