“Fifteen musicians plus Itiberê comprise this orchestra.In the year of 1.999, young musicians came to Seminários de Música Pro-Arte to participate in a musical practice meeting carried out by Itiberê and scheduled as a weekly workshop. Since then, these meetings never stopped.As the musicians progressed, Orquestra Família built up it’s name and their vast repertoire led the group to many formal concerts in diverse locations, on Brasil , Argentina and Uruguai.By the end of 2001, Orquestra Família released it’s first double CD “Pedra do Espia” (Jam Music Label), which got excellent media and public feedback, considered by “O Globo” reviewers one of the year’s ten best musical releases. In 2005 the group released the second double CD “Calendário do Som” featuring 27 compositions from Hermeto Pascoal’s book, and in 2006 went on a release tour with a series of concerts throughout Brazil, Montevideo (Uruguay) and Buenos Aires (Argentina).During their four weekly rehearsals, Itiberê makes use of the method "Corpo Presente" (real time creation) to compose and arrange. Multiple are the styles and with no preconceptions he ends up including all musical tendencies, creating a beautiful and coherent whole.Breaking through the boundaries that separate popular and concert music, it features universality, the greatest asset of "Escola Jabour", by Hermeto Pascoal. All this project was borned in 1977 when i started playing with the Hermeto Pascoal e Grupo, because it is Hermeto who brought this quality of music to the world. I got prepared, harmonically and rythmically, during all those years through the master orientation, untill he gave me ok, and told me that i should spread my own musical ideas through the world. This was in 1998 and the first thing that i imagined was to do a workshop with young musicians that were fond on Hermeto Pascoal e Grupo music. I started composing and making the arrangements in loco, training the memoring and hearing capacity without using partitions, only after the arrangements get ready we wrote it to keep information. I felt right away that without the worrying to read the musicians felt themselves more free to hear each other interprating with much more expressivity. This became one of the principal practice of this group that started to be called Itibere Orquestra Familia since 1999. At this point it wasn't anymore a workshop and i got awared that was borned a real group, instead of teacher and pupils we became real musicianships, we didn't rehearsed in Pro-Arte school anymore and started rehearsing at my place. The Orchestra exists because of this reality wich is musicianship brotherhood, that's why it is called Itiberë Orchestra Familia.We play the music called Universal Musical by us, that came to this world through Hermeto and it has no prejuges of styles, cultures and colors. We just came back last year of two south american travel (Buenos Aires and Montivideo and then Santa fe and Buenos Aires). The Police, I just got into them recently, I'm jealous!

In April I saw Jon Anderson (lead singer of Yes) with the School of Rock All Stars (frickin' amazing!). Tomorrow I'm gonna see Rush. In August I'm going to see BB King and The Allman Brothers Band with Bob Weir & Ratdog From the Grateful Dead. In October I'm gonna see David Crosby & Graham Nash and I might see Jethro Tull in November. Who are you going to see?
