A friend of mine was hanging out with Wild Man Fischer in San Francisco.I went with them to Vesuvio's in North Beach.Larry was loud & paranoid.I think he was asked to leave,however I'm not sure-this was a long time ago.He would rave about how Zappa ripped him off...

"I had waited years to see this out on CD, and here it is...As I suspected when I saw it being issued on GONZO Records, this is cheaply done, poorly mastered, and defective. Track 10 of the second CD is a mess. Hopefully, the real thing will one day appear through BARFO-SWILL. This version is a cheap knock off...I'm not even sure whether it is manufactured on standard CD or silver CDR...A real disappointment."

A damn shame. If some used copies showed up via Amazon 3rd party sellers, I'd grab it for less than $10. I'm not counting on it though, because simply no one is going to buy this at the retail price.

It's not that bad to my ears. There are a few tracks that have crackles/pops, but overall quite listenable.

Well, I made a CD rip of a pristine vinyl copy years ago and I think I'll stick with that one until someone else can convince me otherwise.

Agreed. Both discs sound fine, everything is clear, I can live with a few vinyl pops, being that it's a remaster from vinyl. Got a sealed copy from Amazon(3rd party) for the price I wanted - $10 + shipping.
If you own an original Reprise LP, you might not need/want this. Bottom line is ZFT is never gonna re-issue this from master tapes like they did with Trout Mask Replica. So if you are a FZ CD completist, get this one before it's gone.
