Don't stop holding your breath yet, this was just a holus-bolus move to a new subdomain, not a rejig. Nonetheless, I've noticed the active topics link now works.

Caveat: I'm not saying "just" to undervalue what was involved, only to compare this to what is to come, which is probably why Mikey's talking about having a beta version first to see what happens.

Personally, I don't care if we lose everything, including my post count (so what?) and start from scratch, just as long as the old one is archived read only somewhere. Then the thread repeat police can tell people to go and look it up in the archive and the irretrievably nostalgic can remove themselves from real time entirely if they so desire.

Yes - we will upgrade the actual forum software and the skin in the near future.

A new site Zappa.com will be launching this week. We've gone back and rebuilt the site from the ground up and will be going live in "beta" mode with limited content. Beyond that, we'll continue to add to, expand and improve!

So far, so good, nothing seems to be missing.

It would be lovely to have a chat button with a link for it, if possible. Thanks.

  • shadow text
  • image re-sizing
  • superscript & subscript
  • tables
  • hi-lighting
  • horizontal lines
  • left justified, right justified & centered text

In addition to slime's list, I miss the full text of the last 10 posts automatically displayed under View New Posts.

more wish list stuff:

  • search for 3-letter words; minimum now is 4
  • allow new members to receive pm's ... tried to send a message re: sherwood, still sitting in my outbox
  • enable youtube embedded videos directly into posts
  • allow html coding in posts
  • allow posting flash animations [swf files]
  • increase pm inbox capacity
  • increase picture hosting limit: 150-300 uploads per user
  • display members visited that day
  • allow flag of country/location under avatar
  • allow users to change their default font & color
  • allow viewing of member profiles without logging in
  • virtual blowjobs
  • upvote/downvote posts
  • shadowbanning
  • disable the hidden users option
  • per diem post limit for forum trolls

  • additional stand-alone boards:
    • zappa alumni
    • zappa in print
    • collectors board
    • musicians board
    • game threads/association & other time-wasting trends board
    • flamer's board
    • boot board

Usually this isn't a forum feature and has to be changed at the server level because the database has a 4 letter minimum
  • allow new members to receive pm's ... tried to send a message re: sherwood, still sitting in my outbox
  • enable youtube embedded videos directly into posts

I'd like to see this too, but it tends to slow down any forum. Software with spoiler tags would help.
  • increase pm inbox capacity
  • increase picture hosting limit: 150-300 uploads per user
You use upload to post pictures? There's no limit when you copy and paste the image here.
  • display members visited that day
  • allow flag of country/location under avatar
  • allow users to change their default font & color
  • allow viewing of member profiles without logging in
  • virtual blowjobs
  • upvote/downvote posts
  • shadowbanning
  • disable the hidden users option

    • flamer's board
    • boot board
Great idea

Thanks Slime - appreciate the input.
We will work to add these features if possible over time.

My first plan is to upgrade to the latest version of PHPBB3. One of the issues we had in the past was using forum add-ons that weren't always updated at the same time as the software, so there were often conflicts or things broke if we upgraded. Much has happened with phpBB since then, and they have a super robust developer community now, so I feel more comfortable installing the add-ons. The latest version of the software also features more robust features that will cater to some of your requests.

Thanks again.

Mikey

Polls were wonderful...if they are available in the new software :)

Not only could we find out what everyone thought, but they were anonymous so people could give their opinion in touchy subject threads they wouldn't ordinarily post in :)

An unrelated personal note:
Some Zappa fans are a lot like some Christians. They don't give a shit what the man stood for they just wanna use him.

Maybe this board can somehow rectify that. If it's not too much to ask.
