i had read there was an original chunga's revenge recorded before he assembled the new mothers with flo and eddie with an alternate tracklisting, and even went so far as having press review it.it was more in the vein of hot rats. i remember one song having motorheads name in it. ever heard of it?

Is there any chance of the Zappa Family trust rereleasing any of Frank's music on vinyl. I recently bought a few Captain Beefheart vinyls and would like some Zappa to go with it.

I love the old vinyls. I have half my collection of FZ on vinyls.
There is a store in the next town over that has an entire 2nd floor from wall to wall with old records. You can't even go thru it all in one day. I happened to see GUITAR on vinyl and grabbed it. Just saw it by accident.

Good luck in your quest me amigo.

Here's my meat.
Unfortunately, I can't show the "Side I" label because both sides of the 1st record have the same "Side IV" label!

Lp Frank Zappa And The Mothers Of Invention - Pregnant (72) - Brazil

Must be a compilation from Brazil...

Ok answering myself:

Crummy Compilations

The oldish compilations below are "crummy" because Zappa wasn't involved in them and they were made by record companies to cash in on Zappa's work, against his wishes. (1990s Ryko compilations don't count, since they were made with permission.) Currently, there is very little info on them, and if you know track lists or other gory details, do mail them this way.

* The **** of the Mothers (Verve V6 5074X in the US, July 1969; Verve 710 022 in Germany)
* The Worst of the Mothers (MGM SE 4754, 1971)
* The Mothers of Invention (MGM Golden Archive Series GAS 112 in the US (1970?); Metro 2355 025 in Australia, 1973)
* Pregnant (Verve 2356049 in the US (double LP - details unknown (1972?)); MGM Metro Records 2356 049 in Germany, 1973; red Verve 2304 072 in Brazil, 1972; Blue Verve 2304072 in Colombia; Metro Records 2355032 in France; Metro Records 2356049 in New Zeeland, Norway & Sweden)
* Freak Out! (but not really) Mexican LP compilation (Karussell 12022, 1972)
* Frank Zappa & the Mothers of Invention (1975)
* Rock Flashbacks: Frank Zappa & the Mothers of Invention (Transparency) (Verve/Polydor 2352 057 in the US)
* Super Stars Live (triple LP, WEA 3-68 008, 1974)

http://www.lukpac.org/~handmade/patio/weirdo/compilations.html

Would it have any value in the US?

Well Mr Green Genes, I've got this one in almost brand new condition. It does have some nice photos of the Mothers inside.

Image

I sold it on ebay about 5 years ago when I was really short on cash but then emailed the winning bidder to say that it along with a bunch of other records had been stolen from my car. I just couldn't part with it - vinyl does funny things to a man.......

It is almost a certainty that any future vinyl releases will be spawned from digital masters, which for the true analog audiophile makes the question moot...

A nice release indeed. Red Verve

I have the Norwegina release. It is on black Metro label.

Folks
I'm sorry about the fact that nearly all my pictures are gone, but my old and trusty Ibook was stolen and there where a few paswords on it.
But here are better scans of the Brazilian "pregnant", and the German Compilation "Superstars Live"

I guess I meant Brazilian release... Once I tried to intermediate a transaction in the Mercado Livre (a South American E-bay) for another forum member, but in the end it didn't succeed because I was too slow...
