Finally got 'round to watching "the Hobbit" on DVD - it was better than I thought it would be (certainly more entertaining for than "Lord Of the Rings" with all those fucking elvish battles).

I'd never seen Awakenings with Williams and DeNiro. Pretty good.

Wasn't sure if I should list this on the good movie or bad movie thread but it's more good than bad so here it is. I've been reading the new "De Niro" biography so I've been checking out some of hîs old stuff. Watched "Hi, Mom!" today. Early Brian DePalma effort as well. Very arty, sometimes funny, with some soft porn, film student, and black power elements. Worth seeing. From 1970 - De Niro must have been about 25.

Continuing my De Niro quest I watched "Bloody Mama" last night starring Shelly Winters as Ma Barker. This is also from 1970 a features De Niro as one of Ma's sons, drug addicted Loyd. Directed by Roger Corman it's a pretty fun low budget gangster exploitation type flick. This was De Niro's first Hollywood feature film after a few independents and was filmed entirely on location in Arkansas. Also features Bruce Dern and a cameo at the end by Scatman Crothers. Recommended.

I watched it last year. It's part of the 8 film Roger Corman Collection box set. Not too shabby!

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (1978). It should go into the creepies thread too.

Also, South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut is one of the funniest films ever made.

Not a big fan of the series anymore (I only watched them because Primus wrote the theme) but the film is a terrific display of satire with a snappy soundtrack to boot!

Lemming by Dominik Moll, feat. Charlotte Rampling and Charlotte Gainsbourg. Recommandable for people who like David Lynchs movies.

The Story of the Weeping Camel

It's a documentary about some camel herders in Mongolia. It doesn't have a narrator tho, so it's more like a reality show where the people aren't schmucks.

Saw a turgid lump of crap yesterday called 'nuclear hurricane'.
The only thing of 'interest' was that it featured Gil Gerard and Erin Gray. Both looked rough...
