The Jackal - Bruce Willis / Richard Gere.
Wooden acting from Willis. Rotten Irish accent from Gere. Plot completely devoid of character.
With 'day of the jackal', you half want him to succeed, makes you want to go to uni to train as an assassin.
With this shite, you just want some crazed flying piranhas to make it more believable.

Crappy's not the right word for the post-punk film Haze by Shinya Tsukamoto: it wouldn't surprise me if it was a great movie. Subtitles were missing but this far it hasn't been too much trouble. Thing is it makes me rather nauseous.

Zoolander 2. Truly one of the worst films I've ever seen. I'm not exaggerating.

I'm not surprised. I thought the first one was pretty crappy too. I guess I've never bought in to the comedic stylings of Ben Stiller. The only movies of his I kinda liked were "Meet the Parents" and I guess the one where they were making the war movie was ok.

I think There's Something About Mary was pretty funny. Did you see that one?

I've always though Tropic Thunder was the best Stiller movie. The supporting cast is great, which helps. "Now, I want you to take a step back and literally fuck your own face!"

Tropic Thunder is hillarious. I don't know about best, but it sure is my favorite Stiller movie. The one I remember being funny and hasn't been mentioned is Along Came Polly, particulary the supporting cast.

I've kind of developed a built in aversion to super hero movies in all their manifestations. There's just so many of them. The first Superman movie came out in 1979 and it was great and I remember it distinctly. But unless you're totally devoted to this shit I don't get it. This stuff is so commonplace now that it just blends together. I like good character studies with minimal special effects. That's just me though. To each their own.

The Shoveller: Excuse me, could I say something? I think we would all like this victory to go out to all the other guys, and I'm talking about the people in this city who are super good at their jobs but never get any credit. Like the lady in the DMV - that's a rough job.
Invisible Boy: To the people that remember jingles from tons of old commercials.
The Bowler: And uh, uh, people that support local music and seek out independent film.
The Shoveller: And the guy that drives the snow-plow. And the school nurse, that's a...
Mr. Furious: Eddie, Eddie, I think they got the point.

It's been James Bond Month again... I again caught some Die Another Day, but also some Tomorrow Never Dies, some Casino Royale, some Moonraker, some For Your Eyes Only... geeeeeez. At some point you really notice a pattern in the beautiful enemy girlfriends that sleep with Bond, then join the good side, then get killed. Casino Royale, for all the good reviews it got, really is a piece of crap. Poor acting in particularly the romantic scenes on Craig's side

Saw "The 40 Year-Old Virgin" and "Road Trip" recently. Both sucked.

This by the guy that brought you Basic Instinct. Never mind that Isabel Huppert is not Sharon Stone, this film is the worst i've seen this year.
Are they serious ? You never know! Should you laugh at the comedy situations or are they really trying to be Hitchcokian ? The lameness of the scenario makes it impossible to tell and the French acting does it no service either....Really bad!

I eagerly watched The Hateful Eight this weekend. I've always liked Tarantino and this movie got good ratings but his "formula" is maybe starting to wear a little thin for me. Anybody else care to comment?

Jackie Brown is the most recent of his films that I really like. I'll watch the H8ful 8 but don't expect much. I expect a lot of Sergio Leone type shots.

Ennio Morricone soundtrack is pretty nice. I agree, Jackie Brown is really good. Probably his most underrated.

I usually like Tarantino's movies because the stories are well developed. The most recent film I didn't like so much was Django. I thought the Hateful Eight was good and Inglorious Basterds was great. Jackie Brown is fantastic as well.

I've watched Inglorious Basterds and Reservoir Dogs recently and both were great (especially RD). I was planning to watch Pulp Fiction one of these days.
