Hey guys it's been a while since I've posted here. Had to reactivate my account. I'm curious about a few things and appreciate all and any helpful responses.

I haven't gotten any FZ stuff since the Road Tapes stuff. I own plenty of FZ albums on CD and stuff but getting busier in my old age (28) and teaching full time I'm not able to dedicate as much time to FZ as I did when I was in college.

What comes on Roxy: The Movie, and is Amazon the only place to get it?
Is it different than Roxy by Proxy?
Am I able to get Roxy by Proxy on Itunes?
Should I get both of these things?

Thanks for your answers.

Thanks again for your time Calvin, good to see you again after so many years :smoke:

The Roxy: The Movie DVD debuted at #4 on Billboard's Music Video Chart in the United States this week! And while I don't have the exact sales figures, that basically means it sold about 1,500 copies...

Glad to hear it's doing so well.

In most cases when established artists release new material, its debut chart position is its peak position and then it falls off the charts relatively quickly. However, in its second week of release, Roxy: The Movie climbs to #2 on Billboard's Music Video Chart in the United States! And despite still not having the exact sales figures, that means it sold about 2,000-2,500 copies.

Roxy: The Movie's two week US total is between 3,500-4,000 copies sold. And if I were to estimate a current worldwide total, it would be close to 10,000 copies sold. I knew it would outsell all the separate ZFT titles but this is amazing! 8)

Finally got mine from waaay down on amazon.fr

im not the biggest fan of editing and frames they choose in certain situations, and I especially miss village of the sun.

Other than that, what can I say. Brilliant. I was so surprised to see FZ on drums and cheepnis percussion version is sick

oh yeah.. rick jane and carl. after all these years sweet lord.

Also a big surprise was of course the out takes from the studio. Any idea how much of that material exists? Cheepnis eastern egg is amazing.

Not mine. I tried following the idiot bastards instructions on how to access this too but it doesn't work. Is it because I have such a cheap CD player? I'll admit I'm really enjoying this more every time I watch it though.

I knew it would outsell the ZFT titles separately, but after only 3 weeks, Roxy: The Movie is now THE highest selling new Zappa title since the 1990s! This is incredible, guys! 8)

@GG Why are you not buying it from Amazon? That seems to be the main way the ZFT has decided to release this. Music Someday will just dip into your pension fund to pay the postage and then make you wait a month before it arrives.

Despite Amazon filling my inbox with invitations to buy the Roxy movie, for some unknown reason they won't ship that particular item to Wellington New Zealand...Once again NZ is not part of the "people of earth" family. I have asked the Barfies about availability, their response was to keep checking the web site, hell of a business plan you've got going on there folks.....Dispite wanting to give my money to the ZFT, I might have to resort to G&S Music in the UK to get satisfaction.....

@GG: Definitively, from their customer support, if you want the DVD version with CD, from amazon.com, the DVD will only be region 1. This doesn't matter in most players but can be a problem on many computers.

An all regions version is available from amazon.co.uk and even though it's more expensive, they've just brought their price down, so it's cheaper than GANDS.

I almost ordered one as a gift for my brother and including postage it would have ended up a total of OZ$38.27, which is not too bad. But then I decided to try JBHiFi, a local firm and they have the DVD + CD version for OZ$27.99. It's waiting for me behind the counter.

Are you sure you don't have a local music business that sells it or have you tried amazon.co.uk?

Cheers for that Poly' I have looked into my usual local suppliers, but no dice. I didn't even think about JB-HiFi, I'll need nerves of steel to go in there. The last time I visited those guys I came out with a 50" flat screen and a PlayStation 4, I was only in there to check out their cd's

I saved $11 and it's already in my hands. It seems that physical sellers are starting to get their act together. It's not that long ago that I would have been prepared to wait to save money by buying it online. I also got the 200 Motels - The Suites cheaper from iTunes, which is also a change from not that long ago.

I just checked out JBHiFi NZ and it looks like they haven't got it. You should ask them if they'd be willing to order it for you. Good luck.

I don't know about that. It's got quite a long road ahead of it to get there.

However, earlier this year, Baby Snakes was certified Gold (50,000 VHS & DVD sales) in the US...

The US tastes for music still sucks ... if the numbers hold up.

Got mine from Amazon on Monday and I was watching it 5 minutes later! Yeah ... it's pretty damn good, but you already knew that off the LP since 1974. (Show in 1973).

The video is very good, all things considered and it not being filmed a la MTV crapshoot, is nice ... at least you get to appreciate the individual musicianship all around ... and that is something that we do not always take complete stock in and appreciate.

You know what's weird? The vociferous folks that screamed about this forever, are not helping sell it!

My review before the week is out ... yeah ... it's one of the best concerts I have ever enjoyed on DVD.
