So there's only 47 minutes of video in total?

Never mind, I misunderstood the complaint.

Well, I would find it difficult to believe that there would be the technology and interest to colourize a B&W TV program back in the old days.

However, as unlikely as it may be, the fact that this new release advertises 'THE ORIGINAL BROADCAST' means that they should have included THE ORIGINAL BROADCAST whether the colour was authentic or not.

Well, it's not a particularly sophisticated 'colorization' job, looking at this: http://youtu.be/A3biwldG0KY

But yes, it's clearly not the same 'original broadcast' that's on the DVD.

Got it yesterday. Watched a little of it. The unreleased part of the rehearsal is sort of boring, at the beginning anyway. There's a cool guitar/drums jam in there, and some other neat things briefly. Frank slamming a beer :?: :D . The sound has drop-outs during the rehearsal part. I haven't watched the whole main part yet, but the sound seems to be great for that. I wish they would have indexed the tunes, even though it's sort of one long medley.
I guess if you want to experience it like the original broadcast, you could put some gold saran-wrap over your TV screen :) The way they filmed this in general is frustrating, that typical '60s LSD-influenced montage effect, with everything superimposed. Thank God they didn't do that on the Beefheart footage a few yrs later.

Overall nice to have in the collection, but could have been done better.
