Keenum, Foles, Bortles, Brady. I guess we’ll find out this year if you really need a marquee quarterback to win a Super Bowl. I’m rooting for not.

Me too. I'm hoping the Eagles win it all, since they're my son's favorite team. But I'll take anybody but Brady.

I was rooting for Jacksonville but I have to admit that it makes the Super Bowl more interesting having the Patriots and Brady in the big game.

The fix is in...

The Patriots’ 24-20 win over the Jaguars in the AFC championship game produced some noteworthy numbers that represented the numbers of penalties, plus the accompanying yardage, accrued by New England and Jacksonville, respectively. According to NFL Research, the single flag thrown on the Patriots Sunday made for the lowest total for one team in a playoff contest since the 2011 AFC championship game, when the Patriots also had just one penalty while defeating the Ravens.

By contrast, the Jaguars’ defense accounted for two penalties on pass-interference calls alone, out of character for an elite unit that had accounted for just five such flags during the entire regular season (per ESPN). After the game, Jacksonville linebacker Myles Jack said of the discrepancy in penalties, “I’ll just say that’s self-explanatory. Interesting. That’s all I’m going to say.”

“The stats speak for themselves,” Jaguars defensive tackle Malik Jackson added.

If the Jaguars were content to merely insinuate that the Patriots had received favorable treatment, others spelled it out more directly. One image that was widely shared online — to Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson’s apparent amusement — showed back judge Tony Steratore engaging in a lighthearted moment with Patriots players after a New England touchdown.

Cornerback A.J. Bouye did not blame the Jacksonville Jaguars' 24-20 loss to the New England Patriots on officiating, but he certainly wasn't happy about the huge discrepancy in penalties.

Bouye was especially upset about Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore not being called for pass interference against receiver Dede Westbrook on a fourth-down pass late in the game, a 32-yard pass interference call against him late in the first half that set up a touchdown, and about Patriots receiver Danny Amendola not being called for head-butting safety Tashaun Gipson after a play in the third quarter.

"I was pissed because I seen Amendola head-butt the hell out of Gip in front of the ref and you all don't call nothing?" Bouye said. "It don't make no sense, man; it's a lot of stuff that don't make no sense. I have a lot of respect for these people in this locker room. They kept fighting; we all kept fighting. We knew there was stuff we couldn't control, and we kept it close."

Bouye said he wasn't sure why he was called for pass interference against Brandin Cooks, either. Both players were hand-fighting and making contact down the sideline, and Bouye forced Cooks out of bounds. Tom Brady's throw fell incomplete, but the officials penalized Bouye, and the 31-yard penalty gave the Patriots the ball on the Jaguars' 13. Two plays later, they scored to cut the Jaguars' lead to 14-10.

"I just got to watch the tape," Bouye said. "I need to go look at the rulebook on [pass interference penalties], because you're telling me the receiver can have his hands on me the whole way down the field, but if I look for the ball and try to protect myself from being pushed, it's a flag?

And one play in particular stood out to people, as the Jags might have been robbed of a touchdown thanks to an early whistle after Myles Jack robbed Dion Lewis of the ball following a wild Patriots offensive play.

If Jack isn't ruled down, he's probably headed the other way and scoring a touchdown. Instead, the officials blew the whistle -- it was admittedly a difficult call to really break down because of the speed with which Jack made the play -- on a situation where they ruled that Lewis fumbled the ball and Jack recovered. If you rule a fumble and a recovery, you shouldn't blow the whistle to stop the play.

Not helping matters? The officials were seen kind of being enthusiastic with the Patriots following the New England victory. This legitimately set some people off on social media.

-Pretty cool to see your refs celebrating after a Patriots touchdown, @NFL.

-Why are the refs celebrating with #Patriots?#JAXvsNE

-Did the refs really just call like 50 yards of penalties on the #Jaguars to give the #Patriots a touchdown to close out the first half? And you wonder why people are suspicious...

-What I thought was curious was the officials not calling ANY pass interference penalties against the Patriots' defensive backs, especially on two key plays where Marcedes Lewis was open, tried to make a play and got mugged. There was also a holding call completely missed on the Patriots' final first-down play of the game.

-Refs missed three PIs and a holdin call that sealed the game. @NFL needs better refs

Things that make you go hmmm... :smoke:

Eagles should win at home tonight. It'll be a good game, I hope.

That last interception was a head shaker. The other two weren't so great either.

The yips is to excited, rushed, sometimes panicky...which cause sometimes ill timed throws and missed reads on breaks (that was the first 2 INT's were), good defensive play like big line men to close to you in the backfield combined with good coverage in the secondary can really intensify the Yips...I have seen it in even the greats, yes his Highness Tom "I Cheat" Brady has had the yips, I saw it, Gruden has to scare that shit out of him or he's got to go...

Mark Davis didn't hire Gruden with the idea of rebuilding the team. The plan is for the Raiders to win NOW.

They loaded the team for Jack Del Rio, and he didn't deliver. That's why Gruden was hired.

The Raiders move to Las Vegas in two years. If Gruden hasn't taken them to the playoffs by then, he'll be on probation.

After two years in Vegas, no playoffs = no more Gruden...

^^I don’t think they’re nearly as loaded as you think. Two years ago everything was breaking right and they won a lot of close games. The defense sucks. Carr and Cooper have regressed. I think they have to look at those picks they got for Mack and hope Gruden can reinvigorate the talent they have on offense and add other pieces to be a decent team in a few years. If Carr doesn’t turn out to be the quarterback they hope he is they are going to be screwed for a long time.
