I remember reading either in his book or on interviews online tat JCB said it was the first song that Zappa let him sing.

I don't hear him singing at all on the original studio version, sounds like FZ and Ray Collins.

So what the hell?

Sorry to ask a Zappa related question on a Zappa forum......

PS - why could the sound quality on Absolutely Free have been as good as this recording?

I'll have to give it another listen.
What about the sound quality of Big Leg Emma that is so superior to the Absolutely Free. Was it not recorded during the same Nov-66 sessions?

Both sides of the Big Leg Emma/Why Don't You Do Me Right single were recorded in a separate session at TTG on March 6, 1967.
