Tour Information

As to whether Centre Negative, Blue Cheese, and Human Susan have a beat, note, or chord in common,
well, you'd have to ask a musician.
But since our place on the timeline of human history is somewhere after 1977—and presumably also in that
small notch right before human exinction—'post-punk' will have to do.
Or, if you prefer, 'large'.
That's because collective mass might be a better measurement than genre: No fewer than twenty people
will fill/stack/flip the bus these three bands have hired to drive from their Dunedin homes to beautiful
Oamaru and the bastard plains of Christchurch.
This is where you, the reader, will be in two weeks time, taking in these touring bands in all their magnitude.
But since ears can't do maths, bring your calculators on down to this EARLY SHOW at the Wharf Hotel, Fryatt Street, Dunedin.....
next door to the plastics factory, opposite the Harbourside Grill.....

SET TIMES

7:00pm First band
8:00pm ish Second band
9:30pm ish Third band

Venue is accessible.

Live high energy funk from Tāwhiri Funk, with DJ support from Unce Silverback.

Drawing influence equally from the jazz, funk and soul music of the late 60s and early 70s (James Brown,
Kool and the Gang, The Average White Band and a host of lesser known players) and the Hip Hop of the late 80s
and early 90s that was made by sampling that music (A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, The Beatnuts etc);
Tāwhiri Funk have been bringing heat to dancefloors in their home town of Wellington and across New Zealand
for a number of years.....

Turntable wizard Uncle Silverback on DJ duties, bringing deep selections to get the party started and keep the floor moving all night long.....

Gig Information

Fresh off the back of a hugely successful Australian tour, ChillinIt, one of Australia’s most exciting and unprecedented hip-hop artists, will head to New Zealand for the first time this July.

ChillinIt is riding high after a massive Australian tour, including three rounds of nationwide venue upgrades due to massive demand. After performing to almost 5,000 fans in each of Sydney and Melbourne, ChillinIt’s debut NZ tour will be the first chance for Kiwi fans to experience the madness of his live shows.

After breaking into the Australian hip-hop scene in 2018, ChillinIt’s innovative wordplay and fresh sound have been raved about by critics, and his hunger for controversy has meant his presence is known wherever he performs. These traits have built an eccentric and loyal trans-Tasman fan base known affectionately as the 420Fam and he has fast become one of Australia’s modern hip-hop icons, and a must-see performer.

The rappers’ 2018 debut album, Women, Weed & Wordplay received over 60 million streams, as well as three certified-Gold singles. His follow-up album The Octagon reached #2 on the ARIA Album Charts and #1 on the ARIA Digital Album Charts. The album’s lead single ‘Ready For The Pain’ was also the number one trending video on YouTube in Australia on its release.

This tour is just another chapter in what is set to be one of Australasian hip-hop's biggest success stories. Don’t miss your chance to experience ChillinIt in New Zealand this year.

Gig Information

Now one-fifth of the global phenomenon that is Crowded House, Aotearoa New Zealand's Liam Finn
has announced a thrilling new solo project named Liam Finn’s Hyperverse — daring us all to join him
on the journey towards his long-awaited fourth studio album.

Finn is kicking off an innovative online streaming series, offering an intimate ringside view of his songwriting
and recording process as the new album takes shape in real time, going live on Twitch twice per week from
the 14th of June onwards.
The Liam Finn’s Hyperverse series will conclude with three limited capacity events happening at the hell hole
that is Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland's Roundhead Studios from August 11th to 13th — where Finn will perform
his freshly composed music for the first time ever while tracking it onto two-inch tape (with no digital safety net),
to a live studio audience including members of the general public.
Nearly the entirety of Finn’s writing and recording process for the album will be witnessed by audiences online and
in-studio, an audacious and potentially vulnerable move for any artist.

Channeling the electrifying live energy of his one-man-band show which launched his solo career
(with indelible performances on Late Show With David Letterman and Later... With Jools Holland),
Finn will be embracing the unknown, letting the improvisational magic flow and cooking up a bold
new collection of tunes, created from recordings laid down over the upcoming eight weeks.
Viewers will have first look at early versions of new songs, on-the-spot musical discoveries and
sure-to-be top tier banter — direct from the mind that gave us his classic solo albums
The Nihilist (2014), FOMO (2011) and Ill Be Lightning (2007).
Expect the unexpected from the ever-questing songwriter & producer: tune in to the inaugural stream
at https://www.twitch.tv/theliamfinn on Monday 14th June......

There has always been a transformation that happens to me onstage, and a palpable chaotic synergy
between myself and an audience that feeds it.
This feeling has always been elusive to capture while writing a song in my bedroom, or recording in a
studio and I’m excited to explore the possibilities with this project. — Liam Finn

Liam Finn’s Hyperverse
Streaming live on Twitch from Monday the 14th June onwards

Fur Patrol Announce 'Pet' 21st Birthday Tour
Annabel Kean / Wednesday 21st July, 2021 7:23PM

What has two ears, thumb tacks and a key to the house? Fur Patrol's seminal 2000 debut album Pet!
Reissued (following many disheartening delays) back in April, Pet is now the catalyst for a momentous
21st birthday tour locked in for September this year. Already one of the hottest acts announced for this
year's The Others Way festival, Fur Patrol will taking their jubilee show from Tauranga down to Ōtepoti,
so that every New Zealander has the opportunity to lose their voice belting out 'Lydia' to the real deal:
Julia Deans, bass player Andrew Bain and drummer Simon Braxton. Sadly Steve Wells and his guitar won't
be able to make it over from Paris for the tour, but otherwise this is the closest you're going to get to
travelling back in time to the year 2000. Joined by some of Aotearoa's finest party starters Na Noise,
Mousey, Death And The Maiden and Soft Plastics along the way, Fur Patrol clearly know how to throw
a raging 21st.....

Press release:

Fur Patrol are throwing a 21st party like no other this September!

The iconic Kiwi rockers have just announced a seven-date tour of New Zealand in celebration of their landmark debut album, PET.

The tour, which will see Fur Patrol play PET in its entirety, kicks off at Totara Street in The Mount on Thursday, September the 16th.
The band will then play the hell hole that is Auckland’s famed Othersway Festival on Friday, September the 17th before heading south
to Blue Smoke in Christchurch on Saturday, September the 18th, The Dive in Dunedin on Sunday, September the 19th and then back
in the North Island at Paisley Stage in Napier on Friday, September the 24th, ending with an almighty bang at San Fran in Wellington
on Saturday, September the 25th.....

Tickets are on sale now and available from http://www.undertheradar.co.nz or http://www.moshtix.co.nz (thhtiAuckland/Tuning Fork)
or http://www.totarast.co.nz (Tauranga).

In April this year, Fur Patrol released the 20th Anniversary vinyl reissue of PET - their much-loved debut album, which spawned five singles,
including ‘Andrew’, ‘Holy’, the chart-topping ‘Lydia’ and previously "hidden" track 'Bottles & Jars'.

Now, they’re getting the band back together and taking the record on the road.

Fiery frontwoman Julia Deans will be joined by bandmates Simon Braxton (drums) and Andrew Bain (bass). Original guitarist Steve Wells will be
sorely missed due to his location in Paris (thanks, Covid).
“We're so looking forward to reloading and playing these songs live again, and just being in the same room together – it's been a minute!" says Julia.

Fur Patrol will be joined by a top-class cast of support acts on the tour including Na Noise at The Mount and Auckland, Mousey in Christchurch,
Death And The Maiden in Dunedin, and Soft Plastics in Napier and Wellington.

Hailed as one of the most beloved bands to emerge from NZ’s rock/pop scene in the late 90s/early 2000s, Fur Patrol made their mark in 1998 with their EP, STARLIFTER.
But it was PET and its hit songs like ‘Lydia’ (the most played song on NZ radio in 2000) that really propelled them into the limelight.
The band followed PET up with COLLIDER in 2003, THE LONG DISTANCE RUNNER EP in 2007 and LOCAL KID in 2008.

Fur Patrol are chomping at the bit to get out and play. Don’t miss the chance to hear PET in its entirety, live, this September!
