Van Halen Runnin' With The Devil?

Good answer. But not the one I'm thinking of.

One of my favorite songs ever. Fun to play on bass too.

Yeah, it's too bad that Jerry Casale switched to a synth bass after their first album. I think DEVO sounded better when they had more guitars, less synthesizers, and real drums.

But that was the plan all along: they were going to devolve into this ugly, plastic mess. And they did...

John Coltrane - My Favorite Things Live In Japan 1966. The song is 57 minutes long. The bass intro by Jimmy Garrison is 13 minutes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOPsiaPa ... 514B33432D

OR
for those of you who like your bass intros under 13 minutes....

Cliff Burton did some slightly different bass intros for Metallica's "Damage Inc." and "Orion" (for the latter, some people claim it was a Hammond organ drone, but instead, it's more likely just Cliff's overdriven bass through the Leslie speaker).

Technically, that is actually a guitar played through an octave generator. 8)
