This is a pretty entertaining album I think some of you have probably heard.

There's a full-length video that accompanies the CD. I find it rather mesmerizing and fun to get high with.

If any of you have seen the video, I wonder if you might have thought that it could have been influenced by Zappa stuff such as 200 Motels. Definitely some strange video effects, but still kind of old-school, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, I recommend it, and if you need to talk about it after you view it, I'd be glad to help.

...but...but...what about Donald Hitler!?!?!?

ha ha ha

I mostly come here to snag photos and learn of Zappa. It's good to get in some writing practice, too!

I think my phone IP was blocked during the last board do-over. I couldn't log in. Hooked up an old laptop the other day, and bam here I am.

Not that it makes a heckuva lotta difference to ya.

Thanks maps I steal your photos most of all...

Beck knows how to put just about any sound he can find and mix it in to whatever he's doing.

Sounds like someone else I'm a fan of...

No shit you should check out The Information. Most of his new stuff I haven't heard much, but he got "record of the year" didn't he a few years back? I heard he played every instrument on that record and did all the mixing.

So, I still got some checking to do on him, myself, Arkay.

He's on tour, too...I think.

Shit, I wish I had some money!

I like O'Delay and Sea Change. I got Sea Change on Blu-Ray audio, and it's one of the best surround recordings I've ever heard.

(And I'll check out The Information).+

I've got the Odelay CD. I used to have Mellow Gold, Mutations, and Guero.

Checking out his Wiki, he's done a lot I wasn't aware of.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beck

The Information video is an old school trip that reminds me of Zappa, though.

Beck seems to be a serious artist, and I like that in my musicians.

Anyway, the video is on YouTube, just not all in one seamless piece like it is on the DVD.

Kinda low budget but trippy.

Let me know if you need me to talk you down after you view it, Cal...

twenty years ago I used to collect b-sides and such. Saw him '94 I think in Topeka, KS. There were a lot of teenagers there I think that really didn't get what was going on at the show. :| But he tried :)
Also saw him open for the Flaming Lips... that must have been his Sea Change outing and the lips got him to go on tour with them because he was depressed. Anyway, both of them looked like they knew they'd both been better. It was an odd thing to witness actually. But the crowd that time would love anything they did. Funny what ten years can do. And it weirds me out that beck's a scientologist. Weird. Like, a scientologist, but not a Tom Cruise scientologist, wtf?
ummm, but he makes good party music - ummm, where do I start?
Aha! Overlooked b-sides!

corvette bummer

satan gave me a taco

Got No Mind - 'grunge' version of Pay No Mind

American Wasteland - Devil's Haircut version

Brother

Bogusflow - probably my favorite song of his

Strange Invitation ; Low-rider remix ; Burro

Arabian Nights

also, the Tom Petty (Asshole) and Johnny Cash (Rowboat) covers of his songs were good choices... and if you haven't seen beck's live recreation of Bowie's sound+ vision, it's well worth it!
woah-ho! updated today

thanks! this was a happy jaunt down memory lane
:)
