I spend a lot of time at Goodwill looking through junk. Was rummaging the tshirt rack and came across this gem:

Got glasses for the first time ever. Decided to finally stop squinting my way through life. Makes a huge difference!

Two years ago I was called in for the culling....er, selection process. I made it right up to the part where the lawyers liked me, and the judge asked me if there was any reason for me to not do it.
I pointed out that I live in the same building as the defendant.
They sent me away.

Visited a local mushroom show this weekend. While I was there I got inspired and decided to do a little growing of my own! 3 different types of bag kits: Shiitake, Chestnut, and Lion's Mane. I'll be sure to post some pictures as they grow.

My daughter is a school teacher in Los Angeles.

Last night, one of her students got hold of a gun and killed himself.

He was 5... :? :? :?

Update: it happened yesterday afternoon, apparently right after he got home from school...

+1 such a tragedy, I am sure it is a rough go for her.

Spent 8 hours cleaning up the leaves from our Walnut tree. Am feeling suitably virtuous and rather grubby at the same time as a result.

That's what us common folk feel every day, good to see you descend from the Ivory Towers from time to time...

Plenty of walnuts in October - too many to tell the truth. Come over whenever you like, though.

We bought a car, a Rav4 used but 36 000 mile warranty. I had wanted to look at a Subaru. All had more miles and cost more.

I actually was on my way to the hardware to buy a waterheater. Ours leaks and is 1 year past warranty.

But my wife told me she found "our" car, and there are endless supplies of water heaters.

Tomorrow I buy the water heater.

We still got lots of bush fire smoke and fires happening at the downunder Whitehouse.

Thinking of going into the bottled smoke business :smoke:

parts of NZ have been getting amazing sunsets courtesy of the smoke blowing across the ditch.....
incredible to think some of the fires were/are arson.....

There's a very special place for those people.....

Woke up 5:30. Made coffee.
Another cold day.

I spent a good part of an hour sorting out what exactly are Vivaldi concertos composed for the Dresden court. There are more than 30. The confusion comes about as the concertos are also labeled as Per Pisendel. The court composer and violinist in Dresden who got his employer to buy the Vivaldi manuscripts.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Georg_Pisendel

Now back to selling the old car and trying to get the license plates on the new one. It has insurance.
