Shoveled 1 inch of snow. Not sure why, the wind is blowi g this stuff like crazy. Noon to 2 I have a class for seniors on local politics. Mostly a relief from Trump matter.

Wind letting up so Sat leading a birding trip for seniors. I don't care so much for the eagles but they are easy to see for those losing eye sight. I had a heck of a time a year ago teaching bird songs. They could hear the app on the phone but had poor hearing in the field. Jays are loud, all the rest softer.

Thanks Tero!
I love hearing these day-to-day doings.
No really!
There was a time I didn't care, sure.
And even now it may seem I don't with how rarely I come by.
But, if we can acknowledge that even if our own lives are necessarily most important to US individually,
part of our experience is what happens at the edge of our view, at the horizon.
We are all part of each other's reality.
Yes, the horizon is also the periphery, a perimeter of our own reality.
Yet even this horizon, separate from but also connected 'along the edge',
is an oblique acknowledgement we're all connected and CAN understand each other if we just see it.
Look to the horizon!

I got thru my 90 min class on geology and paleontology to entertain seniors. Only because of the excellent videos I found. Dave, about 75-80 age, helped out. He was a geologist. Comes in driving, walked with walker. He’s also a ten year cancer survivor.

Next week, I have 90 min on birds (living). I do have a film, but it’s a topic I know inside out.

I put this class together a half a year ago. A speaker backed out, so I had to find a paleontology film to show, pulled it off Youtube. Definitely not high def. I had it on a memory stick.

I don’t get paid for this. Well, I get a free class, maybe 30 dollars, next session.

Tomorrow shoveling snow AM. May leave house by noon.

Chemist, retired. A half a year ago I tried to explain photosynthesis and respiration to people who have not really had to think of the word molecule for about 40 years. I put it in evolution terms, to make it a story. We described the role of oxygen in the atmosphere after we got over that hurdle. I used this book for that part:
https://www.amazon.com/Out-Thin-Air-Din ... oks&sr=1-3

I gave them some handouts on basics, they do not need to read for a class. This was three 90 minute classes.

For September I'm collecting material for 3 sessions on extinctions. I use material such as this, as the shorter videos are available in high resolution. I also have some Discovery channel 60 minute video.

Shoveled about 3 inches of snow off the steps and sidewalk. Thankfully, the woman downstairs shoveled her side
of the house. It made it easy for me.

HMV, our last CD/LP/Blu ray/dvd store closed .
All that's left now are supermarkets and second hand stores .
At one time back in the day we had 6/7 such shops , now zero .

This is Ungood .

Fast forward to 25/02/2019 and the HMV store re-opens .
Looks exactly the same as before = still overpriced with not very special "special offers "
Oh well ..........

Had a traffic accident yesterday, bumped into a car... Bruises, scratches, material damage, a scare and the overwhelming feeling of wanting to curl up and feel sorry for myself.

Bonny it is called an "accident" not an on purpose for a reason probably everyone here has been in at least one over the years, hope you are well and try to think of it as material for a good story to tell in the future...

Were you on your bike or in another car? Wishing you a quick recovery.

Been shit weather here in the prairie. Still some ice on the roads this morning, but warmed up to 30. I fixed a flat on the bicycle so it will be ready if the bike trails are cleared of ice.

I need to go to some office this month and sign up for Medicare. The extra parts. The basic part is automatic. I can actually get there by bike, 8 miles, weather permitting.34 degrees and rain thru Monday would not work, but 40 degrees and sun coming mid week.

bbp, i believe that plook was just trying to be helpful and ease your mind.
i know, you know, we all know plook does that thing where he is greased lightning to
jump up and respond to your posts, never leaving time for them to get cold/room temperature,
and well... yeah, he kinda did it again, but i honestly feel that this time plook was merely just
offering his very own blend of kind words in eager attempts of cheering you up.

hey, wait a second... do you still have me on ignore?
if so, please disregard the above. you probably already have anyway. am i right?

You know I've read his comment like twenty times and now I read it and it says something completely different... I thought this morning he was telling me off for not being interesting enough.

Anyway, still discovering bruises. Just found a big nasty red one.

With biciycle you really have to be careful since it's easy to get seriously hurt if your steer hits your spleen. Mine got me lower, there's plenty bruising between navel and knees.

Dad managed to fix my steer though, was a nice bit of muscle work!

I've got my sister in law H. a bad Air B and B rating as renter. She got us a house for 4 people to stay at my brother in law's retirement from the Mayo clinic. There was a guest book and another book for suggestions. I wrote in there, not even the Internet!, that it would be nice if the toilet door could stay shut. There was no working lock, it did not latch at all. The door was badly hung, so if you sat in there the door opened if you tried to close it. Four adults were using the little house with the one bath room. So we were all forced to prop the door shut with the trash can inside.

The renter lady, a poor handyman I must say, rated H. as a bad renter who "ate the whole bowl of candy" among other things. There were some horrible mints in the bowl. I tried one, threw it in the trash. Nobody else ate this petrified candy. I suspect she did not read the log book and the next renter did and gave her the bad rating.

None of us, and not H., rated her property on

No worries Bonny I hope you completely recover soon, I would be honored to have you mad at me, my wife used to chew me out all the time and I loved her to the end...to be honest I miss it... :(

Went to a new brew-pub.

Problem was they allow people to bring in their dogs inside the building -I'm talkin' 'bout the canine species, not homely women (which are also allowed btw). If there is one thing dogs enjoy, it's loud music. Felt like I was on Candid Camera or in a 3rd world country. Clearly was a health code violation. Don't know how they keep the pet dander and loose hairs out of drink wear, or what the ratio of pit bulls to Boston Terriers might be, or what happens when someone mistakenly steps on the pooch's paw and the animal bites the nearest leg or crotch. Lousy idea.

Next week, I'll discuss kittens at the bowling alley.

You need a retaliatory ring tone - I suggest Shaddap You Face by Joe Dolce
