That's a highly sexist and offensive remark, Mij. Most women know how to carry their burden with grace.

That's funny it came up. These days I addressed students saying I was having my period (so as to justify my bad temper). Next day, the 1st thing I did was to apologize to all women for the unfortunate sexist remark (I only realized afterwards).

It’s kind of an interesting topic. I was just watching Bill Maher and Billy Bush, the tv host that was with Trump when he made the “grab ‘em by the pussy” comment, was a guest. The panel was talking about how it’s not ok not to address people when they cross those kinds of lines. I agree but I’m sure we’ve all been guilty of not calling people on it or even correcting ourselves at times in the past. At the same time Maher goes on to call Democrats “pussies” for not being as tough politically as Republicans. Isn’t using that word to call out a weakness also sexist?

See my subject related quote....

I think pussies refer to the other meaning of pussy, you know, before Are You Being Served made our minds dirty it was primarily used for cats. Like scaredy-cat.
Even so it's name-calling that should have no place in a debate.

I always took it to have the feminine connotation (quite possibly this translates differently in Europe). When I was in Junior High School in the early ‘70’s a common put down between guys was to call somebody a “woman” though I remember this being done playfully.

Reading the above posts, and taking into account the current climate visa vie men behaving badly, I embarrassed to say "you big girls blouse" popped out of my mouth this afternoon, and it's not even throw-back Thursday!.....
Locally, "big girls blouse" and "you f@%kin' poofter" largely faded away in the mid to late 90's, however the BGB seems to be staging somewhat of a minor comeback, especially in the rural areas.....

World's last male northern white rhino dies

Image

(CNN) The world's last male northern white rhino has died leaving only two females left to save the subspecies from extinction.

The 45-year-old rhino named Sudan had been in poor health in recent days and was being treated for age-related issues and multiple infections.

A veterinary team made the decision to euthanize Sudan after his condition deteriorated significantly, the conservation group WildAid announced Tuesday.

Sudan lived in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya, surrounded by armed guards in the days leading up to his death to protect him from poachers.

"He was a gentle giant, his personality was just amazing and given his size, a lot of people were afraid of him. But there was nothing mean about him," said Elodie Sampere, a representative for Ol Pejeta.

Researchers were able to save some of Sudan's genetic material in the hopes of successfully artificially inseminating one of the two females left, Sampere said.

The cartoon does not reveal anything new or make me feel better. It's too obvious to enlighten. It's mainstream- not allowed to be anything more than mediocre. It fills space that's all. And you distribute it.

I'm happy for the white rhino...getting the fuck off of this crazy rock.

These cartoons are "art" the way Burger King is "food". But don't think it bothers me when you post them. Mr Nice. It makes me appreciative when you post 'em because it gives me an opportunity to point out how they're nothing more than product manufactured for somebody's bottom line.

A good one.
I envy those guys to be able to come up with some funny ones.
It's relaxing to have a laugh once in a while.
The World as it is... Well, better laugh at it than whine and feel blue.

Funny, as I write this post, Trump is on TV about his promesses to put minors back to work
Looks like he didn't do anything for those coal mines in Pensylvania.
Peoples losing their jobs and still they don't get the message.
They smile at the camera and goes to welfare.
At least one said that Trump is just an used car dealer. He says what you want to hear till you buy the car. After that, you won't see him.

Boy, USA is so screwed...
:P

‘Total Recall’ And ‘Star Wars’ Actress Debbie Lee Carrington Dies Aged 58

Image

Actress Debbie Lee Carrington, a little person who appeared in the original Total Recall as part of the Martian rebels and in Star Wars as an ewok, among other TV and film appearances, has died. She was 58 and died in her sleep from undetermined causes, according to her sister, Cathy Ellis.

Carrington was born on December 14, 1959 in San Jose, California. Standing just 3 feet, 10 inches tall upon maturity, Carrington was a cheerleader in high school and played Sancho Panza in a production of Man of La Mancha her junior year, igniting her passion for acting.

While attending the University of California-Davis, she saw an ad in the Little People of America magazine about the search for extras for Chevy Chase’s Under the Rainbow, a film which was loosely based on the little people who auditioned for roles as Munchkins in The Wizard of Oz.

Carrington scored a role, and took some time off from college. Although she eventually went back to earn a degree in early childhood development from UC-Davis, her career path was set.

Among her credits was a role in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi as an ewok, a role she reprised for two made-for-television films, Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure (1984) and Ewoks: The Battle for Endor.

Carrington worked constantly, appearing on such TV shows as Seinfeld and The Drew Carey Show, as well as some local theater. Her other film roles included appearances in Men in Black and She’s All That. She was also a well-received regular at Comic-Con and other live entertainment events.

Survivors include her parents, Fred and Marlene Carrington; her sister, Cathy; brother Robert Carrington; and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces. Memorial plans are private, but services will be held in Northern and Southern California.
