That's sad. I've got a pretty good collection of recordings by the trio. Fantastic stuff.

Mitch Margo of the Tokens (1947 - 2017)

by VVN Music

Mitch Margo, one of the original members of The Tokens, has died at the age of 70.

The Tokens posted to social media:

The Lion went to sleep...Mitch Margo, co-founder of The Tokens passed away peacefully in his sleep. The shock is still reverberating though our family as we try to make sense of this loss. Much will be said about Mitch in the upcoming days, but we wanted our incredibly dedicated fans to know.

Mitch left an indelible mark on the world with both his art and music. We hope that all of you who love listening to The Tokens explore the work of this amazingly talented individual. So "hush my darling, don't fear my darling, the lion sleeps tonight."

I just found out about this -
Phil Miller, British jazz-rock-prog guitarist passed away on Oct 18 at 68.
Anyone who loves Matching Mole, Hatfield and the North, National Health and In Cahoots, know and love Phil's playing. A great loss.
And anyone who doesn't know about these bands owe it to themselves to check them out.

Rance Howard dies at 89: Actor/director and father of Ron and Clint Howard

Image

Rance Howard, father of Ron and Clint Howard and a prolific actor in his own right, has died at age 89. Ron Howard broke the sad news to fans on Twitter, crediting his father for changing the family history with his passion for acting.

“Clint & I have been blessed to be Rance Howard’s sons,” Ron wrote.

“Today he passed at 89. He stood especially tall [for] his ability to balance ambition [with] great personal integrity. A Depression-era farm boy, his passion for acting changed the course of our family history. We love & miss U Dad.”

While he was the patriarch of the Howard talent dynasty, which includes Ron, Clint, and granddaughter Bryce Dallas Howard, Rance Howard had more than 270 acting credits of his own dating back to the 1950s. Not only did Rance appear in some of his son Ron’s biggest films, including Apollo 13 and A Beautiful Mind, but he logged a long list of TV credits on shows like The Waltons, Grey’s Anatomy, Babylon 5, and Ron’s early TV shows The Andy Griffith Show and Happy Days.

Rance Howard’s acting career spanned six decades. His first significant feature film role, in 1956’s Frontier Woman, was also the first role for his son Ron, who was a baby at the time.

“It was called Frontier Woman in 1956, filmed in Mississippi, and about Daniel Boone’s daughter, Polly,” Rance Howard told the Oklahoman. “[My wife] Jean also had a part, and we wanted to somehow get Ron into the picture, too. He was only 18-months-old, but we thought it would be wonderful for our parents to see their grandson in a movie with us.”

Isn’t he sometimes referred to as the “French Elvis”? I know nothing of his music but have seen his name pop up from time to time over the years. If memory serves, Mick Jones from Foreigner was in his band in the early part of his career.

Sure, but using 50's-60's motown & Top 40 hits translated into french for you stardom is kinda lame.

This was one of his biggest hits in French speaking countries.

He did have excellent musicians on his touring bands. Paul Personne & Norbert Krieff

Sorry to hear. I wasn’t a huge fan but generally liked their music. I considered going to see them a couple of years ago in a familiar venue but didn’t pull the trigger. I believe they were playing a Who tribute on that tour. Any COD?
