Thats great stuff.
I've been practicing the first 15 seconds of it - I think I've nailed it.

I haven't read all the posts on this one, but if she hasn't been mentioned already, check out Ava Mendez. I saw her in Victoriaville QC last May, and I swear every jaw in the room dropped. She plays with Fred Frith on occasion, but her own trio was an absolute killer, like an aggressive version of Massacre.

Wouldn't that be Ava MENDOZA ?. Since Eva Mendez cant act worth shit, I doubt she could play the guitar with much verve.

Of course, you're quite right, it is Ava Mendoza. We are currently going through a deep freeze up here in Canada, and it appears my brain has shut down. Wouldn't that be something if Ms. Mendez has some serious chops.

^^^^^ Excellent ^^^^^

After seeing Nita Strauss playing her arse off up close on Saturday night that lady deserves an honorable mention.....She made Ace Frehley's antics look rather pedestrian.

Mary Halvorson.
I first discovered her when she was in Trevor Dunn's Trio-Convulsant in 2004. The album "Sister Phantom Owl-Fish" is highly recommended. Saw her w/ that band opening for Melvins, & Fantomas around that time. She's released countless albums under her own name and with other artists since then, mostly in and around NYC w/ John Zorn & known associates. Her trio/quartet/quintet albums are excellent. The newest & final Zorn's Book of Angels #32 features her quartet. On my list of next to buy.

Marnie Stern is pretty awesome too, though I don't know if she has quit or just taken a break from making original music & doing the touring cycle in the clubs. Last I saw she seemed to be happy w/ the gig in house band on Seth Myers late night show.

Not "top five" by any means, but in the context of her music I think St. Vincent is a decent guitarist.

She's quite good and I'm forever grateful to her for designing a guitar that actually fits the female body.

Been a fan of hers for a while. Extremely talented girl. Makes me either want to throw my guitar away or work ever harder.

Agreed on her awesomeness
She got a baby last year, maybe that's why she wasn't doing much lately

St Vincent has pretty good chops IHMO(haven't done one of those in some time...). Her latest release "Masseduction" is pretty interesting. Her quirkeness is appealing in some way.
