Revised Music for Guitar And Low-Budget Orchestra

The part where the horn section is trying to double Frank's transcribed solo blows me away every time

I could never pick the favorite, however Sofa # 1 is right up there along with Inca Roads and Watermelon in Easter Hay and......

So time ago I tried to do an FZ top ten.....I think I whittled it down to 47ish

Charva. I want every FZ cover band to play it. I want DZ to agonize over every bit of the guitar part and rehearse tirelessly to get the vocals just right.

Well, "song" brings to mind something with lyrics. And so it should have Zappa singing. And that narrows it down to about 10 songs. Thinking.

Camarillo Brillo. I still don't know the brillo part for sure.

I always thought of it as the Zappa version of Norwegian Wood. An encounter, a one night stand for Johm a little less for Zappa as they eventually go down to it. Till they were unconchio. This is just a song in 4/4, right?

Special spots: Sears poncho and my favorite line in ANY song: She carried on without a COMMA.

Good poppy arrangement. I love the piano. Similar to Sofa. Also in my top 5. The uneven but slow pace makes it special. It also has some of that fake pompousness that reached a peak in 200 Motels.

I like the original but Baby Snakes movie version is good too.

The time signature hardly matters. The deceptively simple George Duke piano might be easy to play but only Zappa and Duke could have conceived it. It's sweet. The horn arrangement is also simple to copy but brilliant in its conception. One-in-a-million stuff. CB is a perfect song that encapsulates many of Zappa's strengths. As you also noted it contains some of his best and funniest lyrics. And it's not often we get clean lead guitar tones from FZ. It's a beautiful thing. Did Mark Knopfler used to play along with this song?

No. Why? Did I repeat something they said? If I heard them say it I certainly wouldn't repeat it. I like to voice my own thoughts.

"Classic albums" seems depressing when I see a glimpse of it. Some old bastard replaying some guitar part for the camera. It's absurd to me. I watched the Steely Dan one so I could laugh at 'em. 8 hours (or whatever) in the studio for one fucking guitar solo. Good for them, helping the engineers and session guys get paid.

How about you? You watch it much?
