I googled and read that it's Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, who's the one behind that giant Baby Trump.

I'll call it a brave attempt at "Tell it like it is".
Hope others will follow. Maybe a new trend ?

Well, to be exact, Sadiq Khan, as mayor of London has merely decided that the balloon was safe to fly i.e. it would not cause an accident.

The balloon was, in fact, crowd-funded. As the BBC points out...
"Campaigners raised almost £18,000 to pay for the inflatable, which they said reflects Mr Trump's character as an "angry baby with a fragile ego and tiny hands"."

Sadiq Khan's role was therefore merely to decide whether an accident would be caused by the balloon and whether it was a legitimate form of protest...
"A statement on behalf of Mr Khan said he "supports the right to peaceful protest and understands that this can take many different forms"."

And they still need further approval before it can fly as they also ...
"need permission from the National Air Traffic Service and Met Police."

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-44737293

So it's not really "Sadiq Khan's balloon", as jayfunk and Mij seem to think. It's a balloon financed by protesters that Sadiq Khan, as mayor of London, has decided fulfils health and safety regulations in London. He has also decided that it is a legitimate form of protest and that it would not be worth the bother of attempting to legally stop it.

I, personally, can't see the difference between this and a placard protesting against Trump - except that it is more expensive. It seems that Trump supporters are awfully keen on peaceful protest and freedom of speech (with the occasional car driving into a crowd), but not when their hero is a subject of ridicule. Honestly, what could not be more a symbol of peaceful protest than...

... a balloon?

Wonder if suicide rates of the American farmer will continue to rise particularly now.

Farmers in America are facing an economic and mental health crisis

A). High Tariffs on soybeans.
B). Crack down on illegal immigrant labor.
C). Dramatic reduction of government subsidies.

Quote:
"Think about trying to live today on the income you had 15 years ago."
That's how agriculture expert Chris Hurt describes the plight facing U.S. farmers today.

Holy shit. I do not think there is anyone dumber on this planet than you. I've been saying this for fucking years.

Tell it like it is? That's all Trump has been doing since he walked down that escalator 2 and a half years ago. A straight shooter, non-career politician that doesn't fuck around!! The complete opposite of what all other bullshit politicians have done for fucking decades. Yet asshole lefties like you shit on him every day for it just because you think he's "mean" and don't agree with him. What a bunch of infantile minds.

THIS IS WHAT GOT HIM ELECTED!! Once again thanks for the free advertising. 2020 is a fucking lock for Trump.

But all of a sudden Khan is "brave" because he's "telling it like it is"? He's a hack just like the rest of the left that does nothing but cry over and over about Trump. Khan systematically RUINED London with his Muslim bullshit agenda. You fucking moronic turd.

It's disrespectful to the LEADER of another country. Out of respect it should have been denied. If it had been an Obama balloon that was depicting him in a dis-respectable manner you know damn fucking well that this little cunt Muzturd Khan would have blocked it in a second. He's absolutely playing partisan politics. He went out of his way to get this approved. He's a little cunt!

WAKE THE FUCK UP!!

So nobody should protest against Trump because "it's disrespectful"?

Wow.

I've been "disrespectful" towards Reagan, Bush Sr., Margaret Thatcher, Egon Krenz, Helmut Kohl and quite a few others. I couldn't give a flying fuck whether they hoisted a balloon of Obama on a state visit to London or not, btw. Some people are suggesting a Khan balloon as well - good on them (if not very original)-

I rarely draw "the Zappa card", but in this case it's appropriate.
Can you actually listen to any Zappa lyrics at all? Do you want to erase "the Republican Medley" because it was "disrespectful"? Or, if we go across party lines, even "Rhymin' Man"? (The 88 tour must be particularly painful for you). Wasn't e.g. "Joes Garage" disrespectful of the "LEADER" of another country? (Iran). Should we delete the vocal version of "Holiday in Berlin"? A balloon was nothing compared to them, surely.

Zappa's protests are my and your music.

"Disrespectful" - maybe you should find somebody else to listen to.

And btw, legally speaking, it's not the job of the mayor of London to decide on who is worthy of "respect", or not.

I also find it a new high in hypocrisy, that you, of all people, should claim that "respect" is somehow a criterion - you show absolutely none to anybody else who disagrees with you here.

Equally, your idol has routinely insulted other world leaders and entire countries.

"Respect" ho, ho.

You only gain "respect" if you offer it, occasionally. This is the explanation for why neither you, nor your President are getting it very much.

Nowhere does the article state that one could consider the party to be "far-left".

Then you either can't read and/or comprehend the obvious, or you're denying parts of history.

No, my darling; it merely means I am capable of reading more than one sentence in the article you posted. You just don't understand that being "anti-capitalist" and "anti-big business" are not synonyms for the term "far-left", particularly when you understand that they are connected to the term "anti-semitism."

You also fail to understand that one sentence from a badly written article from Wikipedia is not really very much evidence at all and certainly does not constitute historical proof of anything - particularly when you studiously ignore all the other sentences in the same article that directly contradict your argument as well as the evidence of...
- early speeches by Hitler
- the 25 point programme of the NSDAP
- Hitler's political allies in the 20s
- what he did with party members who advocated socialist views
- where the NSDAP sat in parliament
- the judgement of the two most eminent historians writing on the subject at present
- a linguistic explanation

Thanks for the precision, Caputh, about Sadiq Khan.
Nevertheless, he allowed it. So, he's a part of it. A bit.

And about respect...
It's a two-way street. Trump is in a one-way.
Odd to read some wants some when they never give some.
But with these folks, you can't expect any logic.
:P

BTW can any Trump supporter tell me what the following means, apart from the fact he claims that he has broken Elton John records and that he doesn't have an organ?

“I have broken more Elton John records. He seems to have a lot of records. And I, by the way, I don’t have a musical instrument. I don’t have a guitar or an organ. No organ. Elton has an organ. And lots of other people helping. No, we’ve broken a lot of records. We’ve broken virtually every record. Because you know, look, I only need this space. They need much more room. For basketball, for hockey and all of the sports, they need a lot of room. We don’t need it. We have people in that space. So we break all of these records. Really, we do it without, like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical – the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth, right? The brain. More important than the mouth is the brain. The brain is much more important.”

He's talking about the attendance records of his rallies. Is he exaggerating? Yes. I think it was a stupid statement to make.
