Once again, the message appears to be liberal yet the artwork is ultra conservative.

Whose agenda is Mr Nice attempting to advance?

Opposites will always be in conflict and will never be reconciled. If you're 60 something years old and you still have not come to terms with this then I suppose all we can do is alert others to your madness.

Former CIA Director John Brennan blasted President Donald Trump on Saturday after he tweeted about the firing of former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.

"When the full extent of your venality, moral turpitude, and political corruption becomes known, you will take your rightful place as a disgraced demagogue in the dustbin of history. You may scapegoat Andy McCabe, but you will not destroy America...America will triumph over you."

A little less than three months ago, Trump tweeted this:

Twenty six hours before McCabe would have been eligible to retire, Jeff Sessions fired him.

How sad. You must be broken up Flycoon. Perhaps you should vote harder next time.

Me? I never expected anything good to come of the 2016 presidential election so I'm not particularly affected.

edit: I deleted the last 2 sentences of this post because it appeared as if I was calling MTF a rube. That comment was not intended to be directed at MTF.

You quoted him. "How about" you tell us what he means by "triumph". Then google some more FZ trivia for us. Okay? Thanks.

Oh, and how about you make sure your response is grammatically correct or else we'll have to get fascist about it.

I don't really see the difference, myself, apart from the lack of revolutionary flags. Plus, the newer version's figures required less artistic skill than the older. But perhaps that's just me, being conservative.

The obvious difference is that the original places royalty at the top, while the modern adaptation puts royalty on the same level as government and places money on top.

Ah, but the "original" has an eagle - and what is on US dollars, Prussian marks and Russian rubles and what does it represent?
Image
It's just a slightly more advanced symbol in the "original", as an eagle also denotes power and an empire. Also, if you look at the "original", the "government" is arguably on the same tier as the Tsar, though slightly lower. In any case, they're also both above the church - as in the "new" version.

BTW what does a monarchy, in its traditional sense, have to do with the US?

Can I take back the comment about the revolutionary flags as well? 'Cause there is one in the left hand corner of the "new" one, too - just like the "original".

Ummmm... google sez the eagle represents freedom. ;)

https://www.google.com/search?q=the+eagle+represents&oq=the+eagle+represents&aqs=chrome..69i57.34192j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Then farther down the page...

From the eagle's perspective, it holds a bundle of 13 arrows in its left talon (referring to the 13 original states), and an olive branch in its right talon, together symbolizing that the United States has "a strong desire for peace, but will always be ready for war." (see Olive Branch Petition).

Oh! now I'm curious about the use of an eagle in German and Russian flags and insignia, how far back it goes, who instituted it and if there's record as to why, etc. Never thought about that before. I could see the Russians getting it from or, as part of their Byzantine set of claimed historical 'allegiances' and affectations. The peacock had been the bird symbolizing much for Byzantium in its history. The symbology is there. And I could then see europeans picking another bird to differentiate themselves and make theirs a bird of prey, as well, which could not be a falcon, etc. But I don't see it or understand such a lineage for German typology.

Of course, I've heard Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be the US bird and didn't like the eagle...

Oh boy, you're really in trouble now!

Christopher Liddell named White House deputy chief of staff for policy

Expat New Zealand businessman Christopher Liddell has been named the deputy chief of staff for policy co-ordination, the White House announced on Monday morning (US time).

Matamata-born Liddell, a former executive at Microsoft and General Motors, will be tasked with overseeing and co-ordinating US President Donald Trump's policy process, according to White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

These responsibilities were previously largely handled by Rob Porter, who resigned as staff secretary in early February amid accusations that he emotionally and physically abused his two former wives.

Liddell will report to White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and work closely with Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations Joe Hagin.

Liddell, who joined the administration during the transition, has managed its efforts to modernise the government's information technology systems and helped with efforts to decrease the number of government regulations.

He was also involved with the White House Office of American Innovation, which was led by Jared Kushner - a senior adviser and the president's son-in-law - and tasked with advising Trump "on policies and plans that improve government operations and services, improve the quality of life for Americans now and in the future, and spur job creation".

"Chris is widely respected across the administration and is highly qualified to oversee and co-ordinate our policy process," Sanders said in a statement. "We look forward to having him in this new role."

Liddell was also involved with the White House Office of American Innovation, which was led by Jared Kushner, who was heard to say "Brian I could use a little bit more monitor, hello hello, can you turn it up anymore than that? hello hello heeeeey"

Liddell was one of the people Trump considered naming as his top economic adviser after the first person to hold the job, Gary Cohn, quit earlier this month. Trump ultimately picked Larry Kudlow, a CNBC television commentator, for the position.

At the time, a Kiwi who has worked closely with Liddell observed the White House was "a revolving door" and forecast the Matamata-born businessman would wait for his next opportunity for promotion.

"I think it is a case that if he is passed over this time, he'll see what happens next. I think he likes the environment."

I don't think it represents freedom in the Russian "original", as it is flying directly above the head of the royal family in a cartoon that criticizes the inequality of Russian society. The first use of the eagle is, to my knowledge, in ancient Rome where it appears on e.g. coins and military standards - I don't think the Romans or the people who were conquered by the Romans saw it as a symbol of "freedom". My guess as to why it was adopted by others is that they were, in addition claiming a symbolic connection to the Roman Empire (as also with the use of the terms "Holy Roman Empire", Tsar and the Byzantines were originally referred to as the Eastern Roman Empire).

I hope yer not saying that the eagle is put on money because the eagle represents money. That would be kinda weird. No, the eagle is put on money because it represents some things we (r the world) want to advertise.

The eagle with its keen eyes symbolized perspicacity, courage, strength and immortality, but is also considered "king of the skies" and messenger of the highest gods. With these attributed qualities the eagle became a symbol of power and strength in Ancient Rome.

No, I ain't saying that. I'm saying that by using a symbol that originally was associated with power, empire, religion, courage and military strength on money, you create an additional subliminal association with money. So much so, that some of the coins themselves (e.g. in Austria-Hungary) are referred to as "Eagles".

It seems as though it was the Hittites who first used a double headed eagle on coins, btw. I've read that its direct meaning in the Byzantine Empire was the union of church and state under one crown, or the unity between the Eastern and Western Empires. The Russian double-headed eagle of the Tsarist period, however, has three crowns and is gold.
