What’s wrong with Dreadlock? I love this song. It was about an unpleasant real life encounter with some Jamaicans who were trying to shake them down. I think it’s a stretch to turn that into something racially insensitive. Looking at the Wikipedia page for the song, it shows that the song has been used in recent years in movie soundtracks and video games.

What about the Clash’s “White Riot” or “(White Man) in Hammersmith Palais”? I don’t think they’re racially insensitive either but they’re probably edgier than Dreadlock.

"Safe European Home" might be closer to non-PC. But I don't think the Clash would hesitate to record it again, if the all were alive and had the choice.

Jewish Princess - Frank Zappa

When it comes to Zappa I’d probably say “He’s So Gay” along with “Princess”. I still find both funny though.

“Killer On The Loose” by Thin Lizzy (a band I like) always leaves me feeling a little creepy. It is basically the story of a sexual predator who at one point brags “I’m a mad sexual rapist”. The song doesn’t seem to condemn this guy, but rather celebrate him. :|

I don’t know. I don’t think anything is off the table when it comes to art. Everything is open to criticism though. Most hip hop doesn’t have any “street cred” unless it is politically incorrect. A lot of heavy metal too. Even a lot of modern mainstream country music seems to be about getting the girl at the bar drunk enough to take her clothes off. Not exactly #metoo friendly.

Young girl, get out of my mind, my love for you is way out of line
better run girl, you're much too young girl

*******************************

Oh well, I'm the type of guy who will never settle down
Where pretty girls are, well you know that I'm around
I kiss 'em and I love 'em cause to me they're all the same
I hug 'em and I squeeze 'em they don't even know my name

^^Yeah. That’s one that makes me think about the inappropriateness of it. It still gets played on oldies radio though.

Maybe the word “young” is used as a relative term though. Maybe it’s a 60 year old thinking about a 35 year old woman.

yeah....I don't think so....

With all the charms of a woman
You've kept the secret of your youth
You led me to believe you're old enough
To give me love
And now it hurts to know the truth

Beneath your perfume and your make-up
You're just a baby in disguise
And though you know that it's wrong to be
Alone with me
That come on look is in your eyes

Have you ever even read the lyrics? It's not about advocating killing the poor.

Young lady, I'm referring to the title.
Now I see what upsets you.

This song is just a story about Jack The Ripper. It's not celebrating what he did. Man you people are a bunch of over sensitive liberal babies here.

You’re right that it’s about Jack the Ripper but it does romanticize his story and it mixes metaphors about being a ladies man (a “lady killer”) and a literal killer. Is this a big deal? No, but it’s fair to say it’s non-pc.

^^^Today you’d have to say “And the background singers go...”.

I imagine the Frito Bandito song would be a “no no” these days too.
