Today this little story came to my memory:

A friend of mine was on vacation in LA in '81 (he's from Germany) and came across the office of Glotzer Management on Sunset Blvd. He had just bought a copy of Waka/Jawaka and hoped for a chance to meet Frank at the office to ask for an autograph. Of course Frank was not present at the office. The girl in the lobby said: "Frank is out playing golf with his friend Alice Cooper."

True or false? Did FZ really play golf?

P.S.: My friend left the album at the office with a note saying something like "Dear Frank, I appreciate your works". He picked it up a few days later with the desired autograph on the cover.

dweezil's the golf player in the family. but, it's possible that frank went with alice to watch him play---or the woman in the lobby was pulling the guy's leg. all things are possible in this world.

I distinctly remember an interview with Dweezil where he says "He wasn't big on sports-- he played Badminton once in a while though."

I have to admit, imagining him playing Badminton is very humourous.

Anyone can play golf. Getting the ball into the hole is another matter.

I play golf on the weekends. I have been playing a long time. Great therapy for me to unwind and play 18 holes on a Saturday or Sunday.

I've hit a few hundred out on the driving range but I was never good enough to play a proper course, unless we're counting Crazy Golf? Then I'm the master! :P

The fresh air
The scenery
The chance to catch up with some friends
The chance to meet new friends

I could go on and on... I frickin love golf, nearly as much as I love music.

What could be whiter hey...

Nothing personal thought t. I am for "do what you like..."

Dear Dr. Including and other respectful members, the apparently random inoffensive smart-ass comment above about a Brazilian was a unsuccessful attempt to tease Mr Green Genes, because of a claim he had made in the past (which he backed up with actual sources), about a possible Zappa visit to a well known musical course in Germany 1962. He went further and investigated it until reaching the current position where he don't believe that it has actually taken place, but still considers the smallest odds of it being possible. I did not find it surprising that the two people most delighted with the joke were the same members to have previously directly addressed hatred messages against Brazilians in particular (Mr Calvin, who hides behind a ALL is just a silly joke argument and Mrs Brainpang, who diserves no further mention). Just for FYI.

But WGAFA?

A good walk spoiled, and way too time-consuming. I could see Frank playing mini-golf though. Plook one through the windmill! Ram one up the poodle's snout and see where it comes out! Fore!
