I have held this belief (or thought/idea) in my head for a while now,...."Is the Residents' 'mystery" influence ….the Mysterious N. Senada really Don Van Vliet?"

It's NOT just whim I've formulated . It hits me as weird that one member of the Trout Mask band was Don's cousin....and "The Blimp" (especially it's vocals) sound a LOT like an early Residents' vocal recording,...and on top of all this coincidental evidence....Trout Mask Replica's "Trout House" was on Ensenada Drive in California!

There also is a recording of Snakefinger at some radio station with someone listed as N. Senada (yes, thee mysterious) in interview and the mumbles spoken by "said " character sound a LOT like Captain Beefheart himself ...and the horn playing from the same show sounds a lot like Don too.

It would also make sense then that Don may have told the "pre-residents" to mail tapes to Warner Bros too, wouldn't it?

I'm still, in my mind, convinced that there IS some CB / Res connection to be found. What do you all think?

I type too fast.

It's not exactly the same thing, is it?

But I don't know a thing about the Residents and wouldn't be able to help anyway.

Ahhhh, that's all very, "ummm", interesting. But does anyone have anything relevant to add? It seems that the "Mysterious" N. Senada may be at least someone from the Ensenada Drive "Trout Mask sessions house", if not Don Van Vliet himself.

There's also an Ensenada Way right here in San Mateo, which happens to be where the Residents lived in those days. It's a common street name in California. The Mysterious N. Senada, even if he was a real person, was presumably living up here with them. What would Don have been doing hanging out in San Mateo when he lived hundreds of miles away in Woodland Hills?

Ahhh, Shrewnews, That is one fact I did not know. I didn't know where the Residents lived ….I only heard that bit of Beefheart-ian mumble, and horn playing....and wondered if N. Senada ...was Beefheart from the Ensenada Drive, Trout House.

If that's the answer....then I guess it's not him. Thanks.

I think that's the point of the Residents. They are generally "not him".
