When this thing was first announced I admit I was a little skeptical.
I just completed my first ever visit to Nashville. While there I was fortunate enough to tour the Ryman. Quite a moving experience for me- right up there with my first pilgrimage to the site of Woodstock in Bethel NY. Anyway, one of the features of the Ryman tour was a film presentation of the history of the Ryman complete with a hologram of Lula Naff- the "caretaker" if you will of that historic building for many years. I gotta say it was pretty impressive. Needless to say I'm not so skeptical anymore. If they do as good a job as they did in Nashville, it should be a very dynamite show. Can't wait.

Well there it is, our first first hand Hologrammer (is that a word or just an image of one, hopefully its not bad grammer... :mrgreen: ) now I think eveyone should re-think there position and here is the question;

If the Hologram is all that and a bag of chips and the band is awesome, the playlist incredible and the price fair...do you go see the show?... :?:

I like the whole concept. What I think will be great about the hologram technology is not so much the “realistic Frank” but the animated Franks and other artwork from the albums (and the Bickford stuff too). And of course, band and music will be great. Bring it on.

Did you see that Twilite Zone episode where the guy had a camera that could take a picture of the future? That didn’t turn out so good. :(

Once something happens, it can't be made to "unhappen". If you go back in time, and change something, you create a new timeline, separate from your own. When you return, you will automatically go to the timeline you came from, so will see no changes. If you want to return to the newer, changed timeline, you need to invent a Trans-timensional machine.

That must be what they have on Timeless (TV Show no brain trust but interesting) they are total screw ups and change history every time they travel, it makes it quite fun they come back sister was never born, dead wife is alive, major historical events are different right down to complete terms were never created that were used to describe things.

I like it it almost got cancelled after a good start but a write in campaign saved the show...it's fun a guilty pleasure if you will... :smoke:

Billy did you see the Dio show live or did you determine this from a video?

Often what you see live doesn't come across accurately in video or pictures.

Also I have to believe this technology is continually improving in leaps and bonds as other technology is... :idea:

I saw it live. If you want to call it that.
There were times where it was just absurdly bad.

Of course I will go to a Zappa Hologram show. Speaking of time travel I once went down the wrong timeline and had a heck of a time getting that all back in order.

A colleague of mine is a true heavy metal addict (so true that he plays the bass in such kind of band: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWDKs2Kxw7c). He also was in Wacken last year and after i had learned that they had shown the Dio-hologram there i of course asked him how it was. He said that they didn't wanna see it cause they thought it was disrespectful against the dead artist. He used the word grave robbery in this case 8)

Saw some info on FB that I hadn't seen before. Unverified! (Maybe I missed it!)

The key performers that I know are taking part are Mike Keneally on keyboard and guitar. Scott Thunes on bass, Joe Travers on drums, Ray White on guitars and vocal, and Robert Mann on everything else ;) There will be a host of other Zappa alum that will take part at some point in the tour.

Hmmm... Robert Mann? Maybe Robert Martin or Ed Mann?

Edit: Robert Martin, with a possibility of Ed Mann for select dates.
